Mithra was NOT born of a virgin like Jesus, he was born from a ROCK!

So, the rock had had sex, then?

Out of a virgin, out of a rock; stil a virgin birth.

deny ignorance.

And related to the earth.

Jesus was born in late January early February no one knows the exact date so to say its december 25th is just stupid. He wasn't born in Israel either, he was born in the country we now call Jordan, might of been the country Georgia cant remember.
edit on 3-12-2011 by Evanzsayz because: (no reason given)

Only reason they say its Israel is because its basically the center of the earth

It does not say anything in the Bible about Christ being born on December 25th, in fact, it was the Spring if you research it. Furthermore, this thread is conjecture without scholarly evidence. Yes, I believe in God, I believe Jesus to have been a prophet of God, perhaps even the living embodiment of God, but then again, he could easily be a copycat of myths so old that we've forgotten how long we've really been on the Planet Earth.

Which, by my estimation and research has been at least one great civilization like our own, read a little from the ancient Indians, Hindus, and other Sumerians, we've been here awhile, and the 'mythology' around Christ may or may not be new.

My faith wells up inside of me like a great eternal spring, but it doesn't make me dumb or unable to search for higher truths. It's foolish to say, "yep, this is the way it is! You know why? Because I said so! Because that's what the KJV says!"

That's just foolish.

God of the Bible isn't the first God envisioned by man, so many of the Christian God's attributes would have been borrowed from past deities. It's just inevitable because how many attributes can a god have? God in the Bible doesn't even keep the same attributes himself throughout the Bible, New Testament to New Testament.

There is actually evidence that is outside the bible or the koran that suggests that Jesus did exist. ( Jesus is the third most important prophet in Islam.) Some of the Roman scribes mention him. Jesus was probably from one of the benevelent alien races created by artificial insemination.
The bible was created by the roman emperer Constantene by selectively choosing texts of the day that he approved of about 340 years after Jesus lived. Many of these texts were then rewritten and over time have been rewritten again and again. Scholars have compared the early bible with the current one and found over 14000 changes and this does not include the changing of the meanings of some words and texts. Emperer Constantene wanted to create one religion and so mixed gnostic Christianity with other religions particularly pagan sun worshiping religions. From the pagan sun worshipers we get to worship Christianity on *SUNday ( day of worshiping the SUN ) celebrate Easter on the spring equinox and celebrate Christmas day on the 25 of December ( 21 December winter solace plus 3 days the sun does not move. On the forth day it begins rising again which equals the 25 of December ) etc etc
Many other texts were then destroyed. The ones that we have today where all hidden so they would not be destroyed.
To believe the official version of Christianity you first have to believe that Jesus existed ( very probable ) Then you have to believe that the pbtb 340 years latter would do the right thing ( very improbable ) and that the church in a time when most people were illiterate would not change things (almost impossible ) As Jesus neither wrote the bible nor did he create the bible it is highly likely that his name was used in it but much of what he said was rewritten to reinforce the powers of the church and powerful people in society. The roman empire ( catholic church ) still exists today not as an empire but as a religious organisation.
The real Jesus was for peace, forgiveness; exeptance; love and light. He also taught about many things like the use of your pineal gland (third eye) reincarnation; other diamentions and that we are not alone in the universe. Few of these things are represented by the churches of today instead being replaced with rituals and rites that are not of Jesus

First of all, you can't say that Christianity STOLE these things if they aren't in The Bible!

- December 25th (This is NOT in The Bible at all - therefore it is not a similarity to TRUE Christianity)

- The three wise-men (Bible never says it was "three" only "three" gifts - so this isn't a similarity)

- Easter (This was also borrowed into Christianity and NOT written in The Bible)

Christian Apologetics are making me think that maybe Jesus is true... What do you think?

The Historicity of Jesus is proven. There is historical evidence for that. The Jesus never existed myth, was an idea that somewhere between 18-19th century was dismissed.

Here is a link about the historicity of Jesus, with skeptics interjection been answered :
The Historicity of Jesus Christ

The Zeitgeist section about Jesus was debunked long ago. Here are two sources that examining the evidence. Is somewhat lengthy and you may want to check the sources for your self.

This is a detailed response to the claim that there are many parallel pagan gods and "crucified saviors" that rival Christianity's founder Jesus Christ.

Evidence for Jesus and Paraller Pagan"Crusified Saviours" Examined

The second source examines the claim from zeitgeist video :

"...the character of Jesus, a literary and astrological hybrid, is most explicitly a plagiarization of the Egyptian Sun-god Horus..."

Of course He isn't. These are pretty ridiculous lies.
Hey if you wanna know when could be Jesus born check this vid:

True or not I have enjoyed it. It sounds logical. Actually there was a thread here on ATS where Iˇve found it.
Christianity was hijacked some time around Nicea council. Putting Christmass in time of Saturnalia and winter solstice had to asimilate them but it went how it went. Catholic church is a revelation bitch i think.

OP, you are intrinsically WRONG because;

1- Your root source is Zeitgeist.
2- You do not offer conclusive proof, nor do you understand that conclusive proof cannot be given.
3- How come you mention Mithra but not Zoroaster? (ie. your information gathering is not optimal)
4- If a belief works for you, that's fine. It remains a belief though. It does not mean it is factual.

And above all, Jesus was not a white character like the youtube videos you posted make him out to be.

I am not religious but i looked into this a few years ago because it seemed interesting and believable but the only thing they leave out of the stories are facts. Videos like "Zeitgeist" etc. are easily debunked as works of fiction with nice titles. I have not completely looked into it what sources "Zeitgeist" uses but they are withing the last few decade and dont have any sources either.

Another thing i always found comical is how someone looks at an old image carved into a rock somewhere and tell us the entire history of the people from a tiny drawing.
But that is just par for the course.

There is not even an exact birth date for Julius Caesar and he was born into a wealthy and politically connected family.

Wikipedia Link: Julius_Caesar

Caesar was born into a patrician family, the gens Julia, which claimed descent from Iulus, son of the legendary Trojan prince Aeneas, supposedly the son of the goddess Venus.[5] The cognomen "Caesar" originated, according to Pliny the Elder, with an ancestor who was born by caesarean section (from the Latin verb to cut, caedere, caes-).[6] The Historia Augusta suggests three alternative explanations: that the first Caesar had a thick head of hair (Latin caesaries); that he had bright grey eyes (Latin oculis caesiis); or that he killed an elephant (caesai in Moorish) in battle.[7] Caesar issued coins featuring images of elephants, suggesting that he favored this interpretation of his name. Despite their ancient pedigree, the Julii Caesares were not especially politically influential. Caesar's father, also called Gaius Julius Caesar, governed the province of Asia,[8] while his mother, Aurelia Cotta, came from an influential family. Little is recorded of Caesar's childhood.

They list his birth only as July.

I give this thread about another day before its closed...arguing about religion is just plain retarded, and it brings the worst out in all of us (evident here).
OP Your rant is extremely ignorant and quite frankly it reminds me of two nerds arguing over characters in the lord of the rings.
Get your facts right and remember that not 250 years ago, you would have been burned alive by the Christian movement for speaking your mind.

Now I will attempt to tackle your points one by one.

Mithra was NOT born of a virgin like Jesus, he was born from a ROCK!

Rock is a metaphor for a solid foundation.

Psalm 18:2(1984), "The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." source

Krishna was NEVER pronounced "Chrishta" and was NOT resurrected! You can read the Hindu scriptures themselves for proof!

First of all, nobody knows how they pronounced Christa because nobody who was alive back then is alive right now. At best, one can guess, but never offer conclusive proof. You are as wrong as the ones you want to disprove on this one.

As for the story of Horus, he was NOT the only son of God... And his story does NOT mimic's Jesus...

Neither is Jesus the only son of God. If you actually believe in the Bible, it says we are all His children, doesn't it?

As for the Greek God Attis, the stories about him being resurrected came AFTER Jesus.

And so there were stories about resurrections BEFORE Jesus. However, what you touch on here is essential; Stories are copied from each other or can sound the same yet have no apparent connection between them but the human mind.

Justin Martyr even admitted that the Pagans were COPYING stories of Christianity and they were NOT there before...

I doubt the veracity of sources handed out by the Catholic church and others. So should you.

They created these stories to create and opposition against Christianity...

There is research that suggests Christianity as an organized religion was created in opposition to the many beliefs and religions that sprouted up all along the Roman border.

Remember, your research and youtube videos are WORTHLESS if they are not in the proper context.

So you resort to name calling lol, Oh and I can make many claims of helping others but I will not boast of what I do.
In fact the whole Jesus fed 5000 people with just a couple of fish and some bread sounds like boasting too.
You sound angry in the words of someone who has as much sense as anything in your holy book " Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering" Yoda .just as good as anything in any holy book

i was not boasting, you accused me of choosing who i help based on religion, so get your facts right before you twist my words please

Even if Jesus is real, does that mean that the bible is true?

Empedocles the ancient Greek guy teaching about atoms and the big bang, he was real but I don't in any way believe that he flew to the moon like the legends say about him!

There are even myths about people not too long about, like George Washington and the Cherry Tree, people exist, but that doesn't mean everything that people say about them is true!

Heck, there are even people TODAY claiming that people that are LIVING are preforming miracles NOW...

If Jesus exists, he is a Jewish Rabbi that was teaching unconditional love and how when we live in love we live in God and God lives in us (I John 4:16) and how ALL of us are children of God and so we are gods since God is a part of us (Psalm 82:6).

There are SO many different types of Christianity that even if Jesus was real it'll be WAY to difficult to find the truth. Some saying that Jesus is a God, some saying that he is just the son of God, some saying this and some saying that, all the other denominations will go to hell...

I think Christianity has become a fear-base religion. Maybe if we all just practice unconditional love we would be OK.

I CHOOSE to only believe that Jesus and God are UNCONDITONAL love and that Hell is just a seperation of love that people CHOOSE for themselves whether they realize they are choosing it or not.

It means that organized religion was a tool developed for social control.

Either you convert or die, pretty much. And that same mentality, whether these religious people know it or not, is the same mentality they are trying to enforce upon people in 2011. They are not allowed to kill you outright anymore, they can however, not look at you as a human being. In fact, there was a research done that shows religious folk(every Sunday attendees) look at atheists(and not just atheists, but different religions are all gathered under this banner) as they look at rapists.

Very disturbing to say the least.

Yeah, in your faith trying to save a soul doesn`t count for much by your additude.

I help humans and animals etc where & when I can, ex volunteer fire fighter, a respect for all life, it is not my job to save any ones soul ... heal thyself ... or do you need a you tube video to prove that?

John 14:12

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.

I was just giving you a hard time for so easily writing off someone (being a but head:lol

But to be serious for a second, when I was younger i was unsure about christianity, Me and 2 of my friends went to talk to a group of "christians". As the conversation started they asked how long I had been a believer. I replied that I was there to be(for lack of a better term) enlightened. I`ll have you know they never spoke hardly 3 words to me after that. I tell you, if I was as convinced as some "claim" to be about the bible. I would have jumped at the chance to enlighten someone if asked about what i believed. So when I see someone who claims to believe but shows no enthusiasm. It makes me laff
