Looks like a Grasshopper on Steroids to me ~!

I generally don't kill bugs but ...if one bothered me enough...

It's Nothing one of my size 46 Birkenstocks couldn't take care of though if needbe ....

Oh, they fly too ? That's where my Tennis Racket would come in handy !

AHH!!!
It is at the same time both cute and icky.

I am glad they put her back where they found her. It is a shame though, it seems like whenever I get to see a new kind of creature they are almost always already endangered. Sigh.

It looks so cute eating that carrot! I'm usually not a bug lover (never a bug hater either) but seriously, how can you deny that poor Weta it's delicious carrot?

Something about insects skeeve the hell out of me. I would personally rather street fight a grizzly bear than be any where near that nasty thing.

Who said "it was cute?" i'd hate to see you;re spouse if you think that's cute.

Imagine the mess if that thing hit your windshield going down the interstate, you would need a pressure washer to clean it all up.

Hell, it could possibly break the windshield.

That leash would be anything but tiny.

Why do I get the feelng you have some crazy-azz insect or animal for a pet?

Oh stop skorpio if the roles were reversed he'd eat you in half a heartbeat...lol provided he has a heart. Crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside! Yum! He'd go great with some Franks red hot sauce... I put that s*** on everything!

I don't know...
The wiki said tree and giant wetas don't normally bite. I think I would be okay with this thing.
It seems kinda harmless. Cute? Well, maybe as cute as a bug can get. Eating the carrot out of the
person's hand helps.

Nah I don't have any crazy insect pets (that I know of), although I do live in the woods so anything could be hiding somewhere in my basement or attic I guess. I have two Siberian Huskys
I just love all living creatures.

Could never bring myself to kill or step on any kind of bug. Yes, I save them when they find their way inside of my house.

If that thing hit your windshield in the wrong spot, you'd need an ambulance.
And anyone that can sit there and allow that thing to occupy their hand has nerves of steel.

That and tobasco, I put it on everything too!

When I was a kid I ate one of those giant carpenter ants by accident... it was wicked crunchy and sweet like sugar. I wouldn't eat one on purpose tho...

Also had a friend who thought it would be funny to pull the legs off of a daddy long-legs.... until I pulled a fist full of her hair out of her head and asked her how it felt

I've eaten a few bugs in a school I went to, I also learned what you should eat and what you leave alone. As far as bugs in the house, spiders , ladybugs and beetles are set free but if it lives in a hive or colony it gets the dyson treatment!

I wouldn't kill your carrot eating friend because he seems pretty rare, but I'm still curious as to what he tastes like. If you get a chance google "food for Louis" and tell me what you think.
