From what I have studied about reincarnation, there is usually a big time divide between humans and animals, and it is rare than anyone digresses back to an animal. So rare I've hear it said to be "nearly impossible" by some swamis(monks). There are infinite reasons behind why one might have an attraction to an animal, lifestyle, skill sets, but the reasons are always based in experience. So I would guess you identify with horses, because you have experienced 'good' things with them, an attatchment that is forming your life now. Have you chosen in this life to live close to horses? Has it happened by 'chance'?
