I usually multi-task as I browse the ATS feeds each night, and usually that multi-tasking involves surfing the Tosh.0 blog and a dozen or so music sites in a never ending search for epic beats and bass that makes the doors to my car nearly blow off.

That said...

I thought it would be a gentemenly thing to share the new EDM/House mix that i just finished up and posted on soundcloud... it's a live recording, DJ gear and all ... none of that "mix-miester" software where wanna be DJ's drop a playlist in a machine and PRESTO!! I digress. Anyway... here's the link...

EQUINOX volume 7- by DJ Adam J

i put a lot of love into these pupies.. and it's proven science that this music, when played at high volume from your ride, makes most dudes more attractive to women, and many people, regardless of sex, find it irresistible to listen to while doing some of the otherwise typical day to day activities below...

- Driving
- Shamming with a Sham-WOW
- Cooking
- Looking out the window for UFO's and crashing satellites
- Working Out
- Drinking beer
- Reading is "Ron Paul getting shafted by the media?" threads
- Watching the NY Giants ruin their season
- Dancing (alone or with others)
- Contemplating what we'll all be doing on December 22, 2012 (or 24th... the day after which ever calendar of doom/gloom you prefer!)

Anyway... hope you enjoy!

Beats 4Life,

AJ

Its not 100% my genre but it does sound very well made and constructed. Kudos! I can see why driving (or drinking beer!) is a good past-time for this. If this is yours, you have talent. Period. Continue...

Listening to it now. Half way thru, sounds pretty good man!

I produce Electro House & Dubstep (& whatever the hell else I feel like) if you wanna take a listen: Arrows

I used to post mixes, but I had to sell my decks to pay bills and started trying my hand out at producing.

What gear do you have. Being an electronic musician myself. I would be interested in knowing what your using.

Cheers,

i used to practice on CDJ's that werent my own, but they were crappy and when it came time to buy i couldn't spend the money on something good like the pioneer cdj 1000's or better, AND buy the good speakers... so for the past few years my traveling DJ kit has been...

M-Audio Torq 2.0 + MacBook
Torq Xponent Controller
M-Audio Fast Track Pro midi interface
(2) Mackie SRM 450's (about to buy two used SRM 350's for booth monitors)
Behringer XENYX 1202
Was using Shure SRH750DJ headphones, but then scored a free pair Beats by Dre Studio Headphones through work, yay!
... have also been buying a bunch of club lights, truss, etc... makes my gigs and beach parties over the summer more fun!

Many ask why i chose Torq + Xponent, and maybe it's because i have a TV Background, and it's more like Avid in it's interface (familiarity), but i just don't feel Sorato or Traktor, although the S4 is pretty sweet... i'm tempted to sell my xponent and map torq to the S4.

Torq as a program is really cool... if you ever get a chance to use it, it's dope, i've become a whiz on the thing over the past few years... fantastic interface.

I like your style! Don't stop! I must admit that dubstep is a cool sound (the bass frequencies!) Down The Rabbit Hole is a good title for ATS music too. Kudos!

Quite frankly I am amazed at the musical talent here on ATS. (I won't mention many nice people, differing viewpoints and good discussions) You all #ing rock! Now, can anyone tell me why we need record companies with stuff like this out there?

This has been an emotional response. Please excuse the profanity but I believe in swearing for effect.

Well said LS! Lots of great stuff!

I work for a major entertainment media company in music (but i def wouldn't call it the MSM)

The truth is, and this is no surprise, the big labels are freaking out, b/c few artists will ink long term deals because social media does all the work for them.

A major label may help break you, but once your there... all you need is a good tour manager, and a clever social networking manager and you're solid... AND you get to keep all the money the major would take.

Look at all the smart EDM guys... Swedish House Mafia for example... collectively, they're under EMI, but their brand and true strength is their touring and the music and artists produced under their own individual labels... Size (Steve Angello), Refune (Sebastian Ingrosso), Axtone (Axwell) ... it's super smart and a good model which many others adhere too.

Starting with Napster, and now Facebook, the music industry is a totally different game than it was just 10 years ago.

Hehe, it reminds me of OK Go (a band that "started" on youtube). They did their thing, got popular and signed to EMI. When EMI started blocking their youtube content on youtube, they sat and thought. They went back to EMI and dissolved their contract somehow. Now they are independent and they still rock just fine and everything is on youtube (I have one legal cd of theirs here I purchased at a gig)

For the small guys a company can be helpful, but for established artists it is nothing but a parasitic relationship. When they aren't popular anymore, the record company dumps them.

Part of the problem, imho, is the music industry. We need the music, not the industry that seeks to profit from the work of others for little effort. I like the small labels

im downloading it as we speak. Im all about house music and love to rave, cant wait for edc 2012 if i can afford it. Nonetheless i too produce music through fl studio 10. all i need is a midi controller and i could make some decent tracks pretty easily. Anyways thanks for the mix

BTW i really hope that the giants beat the packers this weekend
haha yes this mix is amazing, the first song reminds me of some of the best times of my life aka (drugs with friends lol). Swedish house mafia at edc last year was unreal if your into this music i highly recommend you see some of your favorite djs live its a whole different experience to this music. Thank you very much
