This is the heart-breaking moment male beagles kept in captivity inside a laboratory were released from their cages for the first time.

Scared and visibly unsure of leaving the confines of their cages, the dogs were among many being used for lab testing in Spain before it went out of business.

A total of 72 beagles were rescued by members of Animal Rescue Media Education (ARME) during the operation - most of whom had never been outside their cages.

I really shouldn't watch these videos anymore, they affect me too much. I can't think of a more fitting company to go out of business though. Stop Animal Testing!
Bump!

What a mix of emotions from this, heartfelt adoration, gratitude, sadness, and then rage for anyone experimenting on dogs. What type of lab experiments and why Beagles? I don't know, but for me personally anyone that brings harm to dogs, is less than human. Yea I feel bad for suffering people too, but they are not as defenseless as a dog or puppy.
After all of that, I am however glad to see there are organizations out there to help in these situations, and yes the dogs experiencing life outside of a cage was almost overwhelming for this big hearted dog lover.

Peace,
spec

We have to ask ourselves, how have we as a species come to this? To treat lesser animals with such disrespect, no kindness?

Every creature deserves quality of life IMO. And dogs give unconditional love even after we treat them like garbage.

We are not as advanced as we like to believe.

Peace

i'm with lightspeeddriver- i can no longer stand to see precious animals treated so horribly. i can't even stand to think about the fact that these beautiful animals are treated so badly in this world.

i don't see how there could be any argument that humans are just about the most vile blight that there is on this planet.

my heart hurts for these precious dogs, who would never choose to treat humans like this.

I dont expect many to like what I'm about to ask, and I am not looking to bicker about this, seriously, just using my logic...how many of you are moved by this story, yet eat meat?

I am asking this because sure those dogs are brilliant, we call them family, we love them and teach them, even learn from them, but a cow has that same potential, maybe not a fish, but most of the mammals eaten in modern society have emotional capacities that meet and even surpass that of mans best friend.

So yeah how many of you are pissed off at this and eat meat? Please tell me why you do.

EDIT: wanted to add one more thing, how many of you use sunlight dishsoap, or any other procter and gamble or mego corporation products, beyond the financial motivations, every day we buy up products that are most likely torturing our furry friends to get it to us.

I am a vegetarian purely from a conviction that it is wrong how we treat animals. I (used to) like meat and don't like too many vegetables but I work around it and make do.

As for Procter and Gamble, as far as I am aware I use nothing produced by them but then my budget does not allow me to buy brand name products anyway.

Yeah totally wrong this dominance we assert over the planet, there is a saying, you know the nature of man by how they treat the animals around them. Good for you for sticking it out even though you hate veggies. The only thing that would bring me back to meat is if there was an iceage and I was forced to live it out with some eskimos. I do believe in conserving a human life over an animal life if necessary, but the way mankind is behaving, its not even barbaric, its plain old sadistic!

3 words to answer your question. Laws, products, money.

Laws dictate that any new product brought to market MUST be tested on animals to make sure it is safe for humans. (There are companies that do not test on animals too!) Things like shampoo and soap are applied to rabbit's eyes for a prolonged period of time to determine irritability to human skin. Eye? Skin? Yeah....pfff.

Animal testing labs are VERY profitable things. May The Devil himself own them.

As my life progresses (I'm now 40) I must confess to adopting a more Animal Liberation League type attitude. Free the animals and burn the buildings to the ground. When they make a new lab, repeat and rinse. There is a fairly large one in my country. Apparently they have (I believe) several hundred primates inside, along with other animals. They claim its all done according to "the book" but "the book" is FUBAR. That stands for "#ed Up Beyond All Recognition" and it truly is.

Indeed friend, I believe we share the same ideals. No unnecessary suffering to any being, human or otherwise. Animal testing is pointless anyway. Here's an example from the old days.

Aspirin is poisonous to mice. Testing it on them will give no useful results with regards to toxicity in humans, in the same way that chocolate is potentially fatal to dogs. Humans can eat it by the bucketload, but a dog can die from it. Medical "science" cough cough asserts that animal testing is extremely necessary to prevent human suffering. Media spin.

thanks for reminding me of this extremely accurate quote:

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” - Mahatma Gandhi

(i'll never forget it- i used it in a speech class in college years ago)

and i'd just like to add that my wife and i have each been vegetarian for nearly 20 years (last meat i ate was in 1993) and i think there a million good reasons to be a vegetarian, including health benefits. but our primary reason is also the beauty of animals and our belief that, frankly, we don't have "dominion" over these beautiful creatures. look at what humans have done to this world.

but it's also important to me that i never ever judge anyone who does not make the same decision that i have made. most in my extended family eat meat, and i think anyone who makes a lifestyle change like this really needs to believe in it.

i am heartened, though, by your passion and thankful for your pointing out that meat is made out of beautiful life.

i used to work at a place like this in PA about 10 years ago, hundreds of beagles.

my job was feeder and i guess you could say babysitter, i would take them outside 20 dogs at a time, room by room to their assigned play area, complete with toys, tunnels to run through and grass.
about an hr 1 or 2 times a day

the dogs at that facility were not killed for testing
they were subjects for dog food and treat studies for the leading name brand food companys.

they would be weighed every morning and night, and their poop was bagged numbered and sent to the lab lol

many of these companys would send reps to tour frequently to confirm the dogs were treated well.
this place is more expensive than other facilities but it makes them look good and that makes money

you have never heard anything like a room filled with about 100 beagles at 6am
when you are the first person to open the door and they all want to tell you how happy to see you they are..
its like a wall of noise.. even with heavy shotgun ear muffs on
