The original sons of liberty put their faces/names out in defiance for the world to see, risking to lose everything for liberty. Comparing them to individuals who sit and cower behind a computer screen minimizing their risk is pretty much a joke.

No they did not!! Have you ever heard of the Boston Tea Party? They (The Sons of Liberty) dressed up as Indians and dumped the tea into the harbor????

Ummmm..... You operated a phishing site that was apparently supported by 4chan? I never heard of it, had to Google but what I came up with doesn't look too good. Also, saying Anon at heart and posting your picture is, well, strange to me.

Also, what is a gafwen? All I could find was that it is a racial term comparable to 'spic'.

It wasn't actually a phishing website though, check out the YouQTube facebook group. Read gafwen backwards.

lold hard. I knew I was missing something there. It seemed SO SO familiar too. I thought it was some weird Brit thing! I like weird Brit things!

I am just going to go ahead and trust you on this one. I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to admit to a phishing scam here.

Are you kidding? What have they done? They have inconvenienced a few website owners for a couple hours... That is honestly about it.

The biggest thing they did was take down some child porn site and released the usernames of some of the members.....

But in the end that did nothing... Those pedophiles were not even turned into the police, the site owners and operators remained free and able to hurt children..... No actual real info was given out, so these sick perverts are still out there and able to open up more sites and hurt more children....

Oh yeah and then there was that whole threatening to release names of Zetas thing... What happened there? Oh yeah. The Zetas threatened to kill innocent people for each name released and Anon backed down...

Oh and they took down facebook just like they said...Wait....That never happened either...

Yeah, way to go anon

Anon is the equivalent of a mosquito in the ear of it's enemies.

Get back to me when they actually do something that matters.

Peace and love.

No trolling dude I've always liked you. I just was a little surprised when I read about YouQTube. Good for you on the book. I did get off topic though my bad.

On topic- Do you think Anonymous is actually the do gooder group than many purport it to be? I think some factions certainly have the best intentions but that many don't understand the other facets.

I'd give the group slightly more credit (well parts of it anyway). The #OWS (like it or hate it) was primarily sparked by them. They have also done a lot in terms of educating the masses in regard to corruption etc. They also are nowhere near as powerful as everyone claims, and many would argue that those fighting for a cause are diametrically opposed to what Anonymous is all (or was) about.

Who's that guy in your Avatar?

Yeah, wikipedia says Adbusters started OWS on September 17 but the fact is Anon pretty much started it before then with earlier protests and videos promoting occupy. The whole leaderless aspect of the movement is kinda an Anon thing too.

While they may not be super powerful in terms of hacking, as in they are going to take down facebook or anything like that, I think their social power is downplayed in the media. For example, although OWS became much bigger than Anon, the media never gives them credit for the part they played. They also started basically the first world wide resistance movement network, which I think will only evolve as time goes on.

The whole silly side of it I think is a perfect front, but not really a front, it makes it harder to attack. If it was just a completely serious revolution and hacking movement, homeland security could have shut it all down pretty easily, but I think it is saved by satire.
