Wow I never saw something like this:

spaceweather

It even seems the filaments are forming letters...just a combination I think, but still very cool!

What do you think about it?

Here is the pic

I really like it!!

The connections suggest an interesting possibility. While each sunspot individually poses little threat for strong solar flares, an instability in one could start a chain reaction involving all, leading to a widespread eruption. Readers with solar telescopes are encouraged to monitor developments.

There are three letters. second is 'u' but the rest I don't know, maybe the first could be 's'.

I can recognize a probable sunspot forming on the left, then a second one that is like cut in two parts by the filament (and forming a kind of X)...the whole pattern gives me the idea of waves.

This is how they got the pic:

A line of sunspots stretching across the sun's northern hemisphere appears to be an independent sequence of dark cores. A telescope tuned to the red glow of solar hydrogen, however, reveals something different. The sunspots are connected by sinuous filaments of magnetism:

Our star continues to give nice shows!

SUP.....erstorm is coming?? Well it would be nice to have a sun-generated warning system for solar flares with such a clearness!!

Talking seriously, I have to admit that at least three filaments are kind of parallel to each other and consequently also their inclination (the corner forming with the solar equator or any other latitude line) is the same.

It makes me crazy the fact that this kind of shows are not visible to the human eye. I wonder how many other things are not visible to us, poor biological units on a watery planet

The top dark sunspot almost looks like my avatar with two fingers up!

Second line is the filaments could be a mirror image of LUV.

Well I am almost convinced now...the last three letters are SUS and there are still two forming on the left....JE

I have to admit, I don't know if I am serious or just kidding but JESUS is something that definitely fits with our mighty SUN

The first letter looks like it could be an undercase "r."

If the last letter is an "n," we're in trouble.

Yes but where? There is no place on this small planet.

It's our souls who must escape through meditation and illumination, not our bodies. We can escape if we really want.

By looking at this other set of pictures, I understand that some of the photographers flipped the pics. Am I mistaken?

Maybe I am stupid and naive, but a part of me really believes the Sun is writing JESUS.

They probably all flipped the pics, it's just that the 3rd one didnet get the positioning right. You pretty much always need to flip telescope pics to see a normal view.

Thanks pazcat for the explanation. I do possess a telescope but never tried to take pictures (I must confess...I am an amateur) and I do not possess a decent camera lol shame on me!
