Authorities are preparing for hundreds of well-organized law breakers whose sole intent will be to shut down the convention.
If it's anything like the last Republican convention in St. Paul, Minn., they'll come with gas masks, slingshots and bolt cutters. They'll throw rocks, block intersections and break windows. They'll use water guns to spray urine at police.
Anarchism is generally defined as the political philosophy which holds the state to be undesirable, unnecessary, and harmful
There will be many more laughs after Dec. 21, 2012.
Yeah, just wait til Dec 21, 2012.

Not all anarchists are violent and lawbreaking.

I think you got that backwards.
As the police attacks on protesters in Minnesota continue — see this video of the police swarming a bus transporting members of Earth Justice an environmental activist group, seizing the bus and leaving the group members stranded on the side of the highway — it appears increasingly clear that it is the Federal Government that is directing this intimidation campaign.
Today’s Star Tribune added that the raids were specifically “aided by informants planted in protest groups.” Back in May, Marcy Wheeler presciently noted that the Minneapolis Joint Terrorist Task Force — an inter-agency group of federal, state and local law enforcement led by the FBI — was actively recruiting Minneapolis residents to serve as plants, to infiltrate “vegan groups” and other left-wing activist groups and report back to the Task Force about what they were doing. There seems to be little doubt that it was this domestic spying by the Federal Government that led to the excessive and truly despicable home assaults by the police yesterday.
But such cravenness is standard at political conventions. What isn’t is what happened outside the arena. As Michael Bloomberg welcomed delegates by extolling New York as a beacon of freedom, his police chief, Ray Kelly, was deploying about 10,000 cops—one-third of the NYPD—to secure the Garden, protect the convention, and lock down the city, often at the expense of its citizens’ civil rights. To make sure Republican delegates heard nary a discouraging word, riot cops in full body armor arrayed about the Garden. Groups of lawfully assembled individuals found themselves surrounded by NYPD Hercules units wielding plastic orange netting; those ensnared were hauled off to West Side holding pens dubbed “Guantánamo-on-the-Hudson.”
We speak with detained protesters being held at New York’s temporary holding facility, Pier 57. They describe the conditions of the holding facility saying it is crowded, dirty and contaminated with oil, causing rashes. And we speak with the lead organizer of the National Lawyers Guild’s campaign to protect the rights of protesters.
