NEver been too sure about this guy!

It's all down to interpretation and translation. I could predict that in the future there will be a conflict between two great powers and it will more than likely become true, especially if I do not give a year or time duration. Natural disasters, war, famine and disease have been around since the dawn of man, while natural disasters since the dawn of the planet! To predict any of these things happening is a safe bet. You could say that some places are actually mentioned, that is if the translations are genuine, but even then only places that have been scenes of conflict throughout history.

Don't forget this guy lived during the 1500's, he was alive when you had a major European conflict, The War of the Holy League which started in Italy. Indeed the region was pretty much engulfed in one conflict or another throughout the 1500's. Then you had the Ottoman civil war and indeed various conflicts throughout Nostradamus's lifetime involving the Ottomans which include the war along with France to fight the Persians or the Safavid dynasty, who were rulers of now Iran.

When you look at it, any one of us could make vague predictions and prophecies based around events that are as common now as they were then and we would probably get every single one correct at one point or another in the future.

Now if he had said we will all be using computers, driving machines and there will be such a thing as fast food, I'd be impressed!

Just glad I'm nowhere near Port Melbourne, Watsonia Joint Intel base or Sale RAF Base.....lol

The three big targets in Victoria AU...!!

Up in the mountains, I got food, livestock, Wild Game and fresh water..

All I need to do is sit back and watch the fireworks...!! lol

Ahh well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. But it isn't all bad. There's a few assholes living in the Melbourne Metro area that could use being roasted alive anyway...hehe

A definite possibility. But I hope so much that it doesn't come to that! Nukes just put the whole world in danger, & we're all so sick & tired of it- I wish they'd never been invented.

Well all I do is connect dots. And unfortunetly the outcome is not always good. I'm afraid to say with all the talk about it and hidden info about it, nuke time dude.

Maybe this will bring upon the zombie apocalypse. Im down for that. Seriously. Not playing. I want that to happen.

You took the words right out of my mouth. The entire 16th and early 17th centure where full of war. Considering the times that Nostradamus lived, it would seem to me, that this is what he was talking about. Although his background, to me, suggests that he did have the ability to comprehend the 21st century, and what may come about.

I don't think it's the truth in saying that, when many of these prophecies are first devoloped, that because of a lack of understanding in what they are seeing, lead to the creation of metaphors to convey what was seen. I think it's just a lack of understanding on the side of the interpretation of what is being said. They know darn well what they are trying to say... IMO.

I don't even think it would be that far fetched for Nostradamus to have considered the possibility of a 'driving machine' or fast food... With his all around knowledge, and understanding of progression. It would seem that his creative part of the mind could comprehend and imagine such ideas. Just think about how much 'sci-fiction' becomes 'science fact'

Here's the kicker...

Can freewill, coincide with fate? As the more you discuss freewill, the more you conclude that there is no such thing. Even down to subconsciousness up to action, it seems that fate wins for everything is a product of causality which then gives way to predisposition(cognitive bais sense), which then gives construct to action, and the whole cycle repeats. So then if there is no freewill, then all roles and actions can now be prophecised, it's just the timing in which is the tricky part.
Once you understand the very nature of these cycles, astronomy, evolution of 'consciousness', AND evolution as a whole and what I would call a 'seasonal(seasoned) progression' and how cycles with in another respective cycle correlate. This is when 'time' or dates can be applied... To me, it's more than plausible that there is 'freewill' on an individual, but a collective or society does have a fate. It must go through 'evolution' if you were, in order to reach different paradigms.

One interesting connection:

Octave of Worldviews - Daniel Sheehan (length2:56)
www.youtube.com...

restoration of peace in Century 10, quatrain 74

"The year the great seventh number is accomplished,
Appearing at the time of the great games of slaughter:
Not far from the age of the great millennium,
When the dead will come out of their graves"

The video doesn't completely explain the understanding of an Octave set of World Views, but if you are to watch the video on UFO and JFK by Daniel Sheehan, he fully explains it.

Essentially the 8th in which we are emerging into, is one that consists of...
Instead of looking out for answers, kinda extraverted I suppose, we will be looking in, with already having the knowledge of what surrounds us. When it was said 'When the dead will come out of their graves' it was to mean, that the knowledge gathered from the previous 7 will become the construct of the 8th, ALL OF IT, we will finally learn from history. Which will probably take a WWIII to engrain it into our comprehensions of everything.

It's like, everything humanity learned during times of Red orange yellow green blue indigo and violete, will become whitelight. Welcome to heaven.

First off, thanks for starting this thread.

1:70
Raining starvation & war in Persia (Iran) without cease
Its monarch shall be betrayed by too much faith
Near the end, in France begins
An omen in secret- a star shall land

I know the Iranian leadership believe in the coming of the 12th Imam, or the Mahdi.Link

Maybe this is what the verse is referring to?

They believe the 12th Imam will come and lead them to victory against the infidels.

Also the omen from France, a star shall land?

Nuke or UFO??

Hopefully the latter!!
I was thinking of this when I read the post,it actually fits.I read it in an artical where someone was talking about "an apocalypse of our own design" witch talked about Ahmadinejad and his old style beliefs that included a 12th Iman that would only come after a catastrophic world event and if this event did not happen on its own, that Ahmadinejad was willing to bring the event on himself.

I wish I had a site to refer you to but its been awhile.Point being Israel and Iran don't worry me as much as Russia and the US sitting in the Med off of Syira with the Arab league issuing ultimatims to Syria. This is a posture we have not seen sinse the Bay of Pig's.

Just a thought.

Believing in Nostradamas as a prophet or a 'seer' is just something any science based observer would point out as educated guessing. The likes of Nostradamas and Casey have been used for decades to predict, or more likely squeeze into an explination, events current or otherwise.
There's a lot of dispute and discussion on this, because his prophecies were not clearly stated. They were in very vague terms that could be massaged to fit almost anything.
Many of his 'prophesies' came true because these limericks were written in such a fashion that they could be applied to about any given 'current' event, much as the daily horoscope of the morning paper, The vagueness had to finally cover some topic, and bits fall into place Even the ever popular Sylvia Brown is clever enough to present herself as 'matter 'o fact' and she also employes answers that cover a wide range of outcomes, while being a word-smith, she weaves her words. And many believe she has some connection. Some day, most of you will end your quest for 'magic' and come to the realization there is no magic, or crystal balls or magical spells. This 2012 thing, a new awakening....... with the information network, a lot of superstitions will fall to the wayside. Anyone that is up on current events stands just as good or better a chance of predicting and having a favorable result, but the further back you go, the more vague and 'one size fits all' it becomes.

I refuse to lead my life on random thoughts that he made into prophecies, the wording is so ambiguous they could be translated to pretty much anything.

Its an irrational thing to do and for me just as crazy as leading you life totally by religion.

You have a brain, use it, learn, explore, question everything...

Listening to those prophecies and weaving the words into a meaning that suits you is a terrible waste of that brain, do you really need to be lead through life?

It seems as though the quatrains you expound on deal mainly with the middle eastern blocs; is this the sign that WW3 starts or finishes in this region; at what point in time does the War move to the western hemisphere? I think you did an excellent job here!

Hey now. in regards to the bible referring to wormwood and how that might relate to Chernobyl, here is a link to site about touring the area on a motorcycle by the daughter of a nuclear physicist. If you got the time look it over. I quoted a few paragraphs from the link: Kid Speed, in this thread.

china's population is 1,338,299,500.... i got it right off of google.... i am half chinese and i know that if war were to break out their army of 2.5 or 3.5 is an underestimate... china will use every capable body for this coming war... the prophecy of the 200 million man army from the bible is at our door step... there is a saying in china about their enemies that might attack them and that all they would have to do to over take their enemy is for everybody to just stand up and take a piss and flood them away..... china has the man power and technology to give the u.s or even the world a run for their money... if germany could do such damage in world war 2 with the fraction of the population.... than tsk tsk to think that china couldnt do more

For information purposes: www.propheties.it... (if a non-Nostradamus related page loads, just go back and press the "stop" button at the top of your browser so that it stays on the Nostradamus Centuries page.)

At the above link you can see more direct and precise translation from the original into English. You will find that the language becomes quite different in many of the verses when compared to the sensationalized forms found in many popular Nostradamus books.

The actual translations of the verses in question here are:

After the great affliction of the sceptre,
Two enemies will be defeated by them:
A fleet from Africa will appear before the Hungarians,
By land and sea horrible deeds will take place.

Milk, frog's blood prepared in Dalmatia.
Conflict given, plague near Treglia:
A great cry will sound through all Slavonia,
then a monster will be born near and within Ravenna.

When they will be close the lunar ones will fail,
from one another not greatly distant,
cold, dryness, danger towards the frontiers,
even where the oracle has had its beginning.

On the fields of Media, of Arabia and of Armenia
Two great armies will assemble thrice:
The host near the bank of the Araxes,
They will fall in the land of the great Suleiman.

Under the climate opposite to the Babylonian
their will be great effusion of blood,
the unrighteous will be on land and sea, in air and sky,
Sects, famine, realms, plagues, confusion.

Rain, famine, war in Persia not over,
the too great faith will betray the monarch,
finished there begun in Gaul:
secret sign for one to be moderate.

In my opinion it is problematic to say the least to apply modern viewpoints, cultural contexts, and political realities to the mindset that someone living in Nostradamus' time would have had and the realities of that era. We cannot simply take what was written as shown above and change its wording in order to contort it into making sense in a modern context, and then suggest that this was Nostradamus' intent, in my view.

I respect everyone's opinions and am not trying to accuse anyone here of sensationalism. I just feel this needs to be taken into consideration.

Just my two cents.

You cant even imagine the next matrix format that you humans are creating for your self and for your earth as the masses of the mind will bring into exsistence all of your fears....just like your '1999 the world will end in 2000'.

from 2000 to 2011 .Everything that you all was scared of happening in 1999 all came true ,but in pieces.

I hope to god no more then 1.9 billion people wont think the same thought on dec,20 at 11:59.

by the way.

Exclusive just for u...fyi.

It only takes 7.7 billion people to think somthing into your realm of life.

I cant wait to all you humans bring the real 'God' into your realm of life before it really gets out of hand.

It only takes 3.7billion to think and bring your many jesus christ ...but the original prophet back to life.

Its no need to talk about how much it took the evil to be thought of in this world...its already here, why talk about it!

by the way, since your a geniuoos in your field of...'knowing everything'.
your so much smarter then i am,i like your style of thinking, you keep me on my toes.

'The earth is a time machine'

and all the other planets are former earths'

scientist will never tell you that when they mention galaxys...
'that galaxys are actually other Realms'

have you ever heared of a space expedition in which they said that they will actually explore out this galaxy?

I would like to hear your exquisite point of view on thIs.
