An effective defensive laser system is far off. Laser systems have one major problem. Clouds, even haze, quickly render them ineffective.

#1. The United States military as we all know is decades ahead of us civilians.

#2 It seems the Russians might very well have some intelligence on the fact that the new upgrades are far more capable than the United States leads on.

That being said and judging by how reactive Russia is to the situation I think we could reasonably assume that indeed there is something very advanced being built over there, and its nothing that we as citizens have access to nor even have information about for that matter.

This is also very true. What people need to realize, is that here in the US, we have this thing called a 'Black Budget'. And its estimated to be in the tens of billions $$$ range. No one really knows what is in the black budget, but suffice to say whatever is, is quite important. Also, DARPA has some really mind blowing technology patents that sound straight out of star wars.

It goes into great length about lasers and the technology that is being invented by research labs in the US. The reason why the below video is so interesting is because the fromer program director from Los Alamo's national laboratory speaks about the type of lasers they were developing, and how they are "coming to fruition"...

The space Command includes space control systems, as well as a system of missile warning.

Depends how you define "win". If by bombing the s#@t out of everything and saying you win, fine. If you actually plan to occupy countries to gain hedgemony over their resources, your gonna need a LOT of help. Mandatory conscription might help.

Born in 1964 and never lived in fear of Nuke war, even when I was a soldier BASED in a U.S. Pershing II missile battery in what was then West Germany. That was the front line of the Cold War, but none od us ever considered it a real threat nor really even thought of Russian as enemies. Governments are enemies and we've done a fine job of becoming an enemy to most of the world, either through unprovoked military massacre or financial terrorism by our soul-less faux capitalist (actually, our gigantic banks are the MOST socialist institutions in all the U.S.) banking institutions. If there is a World War III in the near term, Europe would be wise and justified in siding with the Chinese and Russians against us. Our politics are a joke, we parade and reward gross ignorance, we reject commonly accepted science and are violent with our citizens. We are headed no where positive. We'd have to reverse couse in most every way just to be reasonalbly seen as sane as a nation.

In an all out survival mode it would be easy to obliterate the native population of a small country in order to take over their land, to build bases, to use natural resources, etc if it came down to it. The Geneva convention rules would be thrown out the window after they are labeled as terrorists. As you might recall we already changed those rules of engagement before we invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. And wouldn't you know, all the other countries in our club agreed with our decisions how convenient.

Don't forget we already have a stronghold in most allied countries. How many bases does the United States have in other countries....many, many.........now compare that to how many bases of foreign countries there are in the United States.....0.

If they can't bomb us they can't stop our war machine. Our victory (in any way you might define victory and indeed in all ways) is inevitable.

(Reuters) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev accused Washington on Thursday of imposing its plans to deploy a missile defense shield on European countries, a day after he threatened to retaliate if the United States pressed ahead with the project.

On Wednesday Medvedev said he would arm Russia with missiles capable of countering the U.S. shield, deploy additional weapons in the west and south and set up an early-warning radar system in its Baltic enclave to counteract the U.S. system, which is not expected to be fully in place until 2020.

"The construction of the European missile defense shield has been largely imposed (on Europe) by the United States," he told regional reporters at a briefing in the northern town of Petrozavodsk, some 920 km (570 miles) north of Moscow.

He quoted unnamed European leaders who, he said, had complained to him that they had a minor role in the project.

"My partners...have hinted to me from time to time: "It is the Americans who decided that, they are promoting it, and our role as NATO member states is to provide territory," he said.

Russia threatens nuclear attack on Poland over US missile shield deal

Russia threatened a nuclear strike against Poland after a landmark deal to site American global anti-missile shields in the country.

Only 24 hours after the weapons agreement was signed Russia's deputy chief of staff warned Poland "is exposing itself to a strike 100 per cent".

General Anatoly Nogovitsyn said that any new US assets in Europe could come under Russian nuclear attack with his forces targeting "the allies of countries having nuclear weapons".

He told Russia's Interfax news agency: "By hosting these, Poland is making itself a target. This is 100 per cent certain. It becomes a target for attack. Such targets are destroyed as a first priority."

Duh. If any politician/general in NATO had read the many books written by military analysts on both sides about the SDI deployment in Europe (star wars/missile shield program) written in the 60s, they would know that it creates heavy destabilization.

But eh, that's the goal. The elite wants war.
