Even though i support their protests, i think this is really stupid as well. They should go after the very top like banksters, top elite and governments that took from the poor to make themselves rich through corruption.

Most consumer products and shops are not a part of the so called 1%.

I must really be a grinch. I don't celebrate Christmas, and I avoid any holiday shopping scenarios like the plague. Black Friday is really something they made up just for this shopping day. In fact you can still save alot of money - just shop the internet instead if you want "Black Friday" deals.

If OWS wants to protest that is their right. However, when it infringes on someone else's rights, that's where it ends.

Just to be clear, I'm a supporter, and I think it's great people want to direct or make aware the benefits of shopping small business and the hidden cost of shopping corporate. Can I ask how you plan on occupying?

What are they going to do? Stink everyone out? Make the surrounding area so stinky people will run for cover?

OWS taking on Black Friday = EPIC FAIL

Well, surely you can understand how there is no more important day to many corporations in America than Black Friday. If you want to fight, you have to hit them where it hurts.

Retailers nationwide have gutted their full-time payrolls and slashed benefits. It's rare to get more than 30 hours and so that makes most empolyees ineligible for benefits. Those that do qualify find the premiums so sky high, there is little pay check left. At the same time executives are enjoying record salaries and bonuses yet stock prices are in the toilet.

True... but how does the actions of these anarchist occupiers change it? That's the part I don't understand. I understand the root of the movement. I don't understand their methods. How does disrupting an already shaky economy help their cause?

Immediately? Yes. If not immediate, then you're screwed.

But everyone? Not from what I've seen.

Been on both sides of that scenario(but not lately). During my experiences, most people didn't even notice. There aren't too many situations when someone will sincerely say "Thanks" to the complete stranger who just ripped your brand new $30 shirt. That one little detail says alot about how it feels to be in that situation.

Black Friday is a ridiculous event. It never ceases to amaze me that people will deal with these lunatics that will trample people to get the first X-Box but….too each his own.

However, OWS has no right to dictate where these crazy SOB’s shop. If they want to drop a grand at WallyWorld, that’s their prerogative.

Peaceful protest -

Trying to dictate where people spend money they earned -

Good luck with that! You’ll only be hurting your own cause!

Christmas isn't about shopping and the accumulation of material goods. Our society has brainwashed us into feeding the corporate machine by sensationalizing things like black Friday and in turn commercializing Christmas. Christmas should be about spending time with your family not spending time on stuff you and other people don't need. It's all a scam to make the rich richer!

There is no such thing as a hassle free revolution. The western culture of consumerism is the root of all evil. I dont agree that people should be stopped from shopping when where and how they like but at the same time i think its important to EDUCATE people as to why consumerism is bad and why more debt is not what we need right now.

The problem is that the average joe is dependent of the system to survive. The system is slowly dying and the average joe cant understand why. All they want is for things to be as they always was. This is the problem with walking a round with your head up your a$$. when reality comes home to roost it is ugly.

The maths of the economy is that its screwed you can cry and moan all you want it wont change anything. You can drag this out and make it painful or you can end it quick and get over it. The choice is always yours. Your are going to collapse nothing can prevent that, the sooner you get that into your heads the sooner you can start to rebuild.

Shopping like a brainless zombie and buying crap you dont need because you think its half price is the height of stupidity. What do i know anyway, i mean your system works right? Look around and tell me capitalism and consumerism works. Judge a system by how it performs not how you been conned into thinking its SUPPOSED to perform.

Enjoy wasting what little money you have on garbage you dont need. Unless your stock piling canned food and survival essentials your a fool and nature deals with evolutionary dead ends swiftly.

the system works for me and has not fail for me as of yet... Guess you just have to go out and work to make the system work for you

That’s one heck of a conspiracy!! They brainwashed us into buying our loved one’s GIFTS??

So I take it you won’t be buying anyone gifts this year?

Christmas is most definitely commercialized now. Agreed!

Technically, the true meaning of Christmas, to many Americans, is the celebration of the incarnation of Jesus Christ.

It is a great time to share with our loved ones though, no doubt! Gift’s and Santa Claus are just an American tradition. Sorry to hear that you don't partake!

It's funny. I saw people in another thread saying that if OWS was really against corporations they would do an Occupy Black Friday kind of thing...

Now, this thread saying they better not dare or it will be the end of OWS.

It leaves me wondering about both sides. Supporters and people against OWS...Do any of us know just what we want?

It seems no one can agree on much of anything.

Well yes we do. Just because a group says they are 99%ers means little. They WANT to be 99%ers, but they are the .1%ers complaining about the other .1%er rich. The rest of the 98.8 will go shopping.....

I guess in the end Christmas is what you make of it.... For me it is a great time for the kids, a great time to reflect on one's beliefs, a great time for family to get together, a great time for food and giving...
Hell, We enjoy the crap out of Halloween too...

It works both ways.

OWS Protesters have the right to try to detour people from shopping. Just like anti-abortion protesters have the right to stand out in front of abortion clinics and try to detour women from getting abortions.

It works BOTH ways. And both sides have the right as Americans to do it, whether you like it or not.

Dont you know?

If you boycott a multinational corporation for a mom and pop, you hate America.
If you think that only WalMart can cloth and feed Americans, you are a Patriot.
If you think that people did not have jobs before WalMart came into existence, you are an intellectual.
Only WalMart can provide what Americans want." BuhBye Mom & Pop.
If an individual suggests shopping at a Mom & Pop," summary execution is warranted and tear gas rains down.

You mad that the people are finally using their voices, madguy?
What ever happened to accountability for our government and their corporate masters?
Whose streets? Our streets!

Protesting =

Blocking someone’s way =

OWS absolutely DOES NOT have a right to deny people their FREE WILL.

I feel that way whether it’s Occupy Black Friday or Occupy Abortion Clinic. Nobody has the right to stop an American from making a LEGAL choice, whether you agree or not!

Get over your self-righteous beliefs! Do you aspire to control people like the 1% you denounce?
