I hope this isn't real. Even is it is real it could never possibly happen. We aren't that complacent yet are we.

"One of the great pieces of unfinished business is high-quality child care; I wonder why we just can’t do that,’’ she recently said to a California audience.

By "we", Pelosi means the federal government. Pelosi clarified that Congress should be “doing for child care what we did for health-care reform.”

I'm soo happy that Princess Pelosi knows whats best for us. We would be lost without her. This is just another attempt at big brother to split the family unit. Hitler Youth?

What's wrong with that? Mom's wouldn't be forced to do it. Why would the kids be treated differently than if they went to a private daycare? Millions of moms send their kids to public schools, as did mine. I don't remember anyone becoming a Hitler youth.

Did she say she wanted to do to childcare what they did to healthcare?!?!?

oh nos....
Does that mean that everyone with a child will have to purchase federal childcare or a government approved private sector equivalent or pay fines? Would you have to pay to watch your own children?

Well but of course it makes sense. If you won't let us indoctrinate your offspring as early as possible then the least you could do is to help finance our efforts to do it to those who will let us.... *shivers* little baby Pelosis...

Why do they keep sending her to Washington? The only thing she is good at is making money off of other peoples efforts. She is so out of touch with the situation here in the US . I wouild say she it a total joke but that would be giving her credit for something.

And I'm not defending Pelosi or anything, but government childcare would be beneficial for a lot of families, whether it's federal or state or whatever.

I just don't understand how they actually think they could get the american people to just stay asleep and go along with something like this. They might have done this just to see the reaction.

You have 2 camps.. One camp who doesnt want to pay for it, they hype up the 2nd camp whos too paranoid about the gov to let anything good happen.

After that these 2 camps get together and call others "sheep" for not falling into the flock.

anytime you put government in your family it only seperates you more and more. It would soon become the government in the parenting roles and the parents as just the income machine. Think about that for a minute. It's one step away from the government simply taking your kids, putting them in homes, and you just paying child support and having scheduled visits. Maybe I'm just paranoid, maybe.

If that's the only argument that you care to address in regards to what is wrong with this, I hope that you have had your right to vote taken away, untill you learn economics, capitalism and how America should be working, as set forth by the founding fathers.

let's play devils advocate...

Oh yeah, it's a great idea, just like Obama and healthcare which was the most constitutional thing in the world. It would be great to tax and make people pay for the care of other peoples children. I mean, if I didn't have a job and couldn't pay for childcare, I would love to have more freedom. That means, I would be free to have a job now! Oh yeah, and now that I have a job, I can pay for childcare! This solves everything! Who needs capitalism, when I can just get other people to pay for my way. Lets just hope that we don't run out of other peoples money. I might not learn any true lessons in responsibility, in which will spill over into my work ethics and reiterated in my perfomance, but at least I didn't pay for it!

Oh wait...

I did pay for it... and now my children are paying for it, and oh yeah, their children will pay for it. DARN!

Edit: Ok I guess not have you 'right taken away', I apologize for making that statement. Rather, I would imply that you restrict yourself from voting before you elect officials that contribute to the collapse of a great nation

No and Hell no!

Government is the solution to everything? No.

Pelosi needs to leave kids alone for the simple fact they have them at school already and now expanding Government into your homes/

No!

Let me clarify: is child care the same thing as babysitting? My impression was that child care was like day care, where parents send their children on a regular basis for a specified amount of time. This doesn't preclude hiring on relatives and neighbors as babysitters, nor does it force parents to report when and where their kids are at all times when they are not around. Rather, it provides an option for low income families, who cannot pay for private daycare, to have a safe place to send their children that does not involve the slums or gangs.

In fact, I see very little wrong with this. There is no mandate (although her comment about making it like healthcare reform was very poor taste, but I do not believe that is what is intended) and it helps lower income people who don't have an option for day care already. It's not for YOU, if you do not wish to break up your family, do not need day care, or already have the money for day care. It's for those who do not have the money for daycare but need it because they need to work multiple jobs in order to survive...

Just like sending a kid to a private day care is one step away from them losing their lives to a life of corporate slavery?

The country has been going to hell in a hand-basket for awhile, I don't think child care will really dent anything, a lot of things need to be sorted out, but MEANWHILE, families are struggling and are desparate for assistance. I considered myself Libertarian and I expect to vote for Ron Paul, but that doesn't mean I completely agree with RP, Constitutionalists or you.

Doesn't look like everyone fits in your model of the world. Your vision of the how things should be ran is like a delicate glass figurine. And guess what? It shattered a thousand times since it was crafted, but the country is still here.

Conspiracy theory has postulated for the last 20 years that the state wants to raise the children. Pelosi seems to confirm this crazy idea rather than support families. Innnnnteresting.

Conspiracy implies treachery or evil plot. How is it either?

My school had a daycare system implemented. One was just an after school thing for younger kids, and for the older kids they had yes club. If the school system wasn't so broken I would advocate for this. Education is one of things I am for socializing but the government has so far let me down on this.
