I want to be a bum (7 questions I must ask)

The title is to catch your attention as a title should do.

But if you truely want to be a bum, then this topic should be right down your ally!

Being a bum just may be under rated.

Bums can have it made if you think about it.

They dwell off the grid/radar.

All you need is the answers to these questions below, then you are set to go have it made while other people still will have to worry about being laid off among other things these days.

First I want to ask you, do you believe that bums have it easy? Why or why not.

Now answer the following 7 questions to the best of your knowledge, to aid those who would honestly like to survive as bums in this day and age...

Bums/Beggars need other humans to "bum" off of.

I think he is referring more to squatters. many squatters actually do work as well doing all kinds of legitimate jobs, not paying tax though obviously. Living as a squatter can be as good as a 'normal person'. Some in my town live in furnished apartments that have never been occupied with no bills and even a cctv camera which is hooked up to a tv inside so they can see when the police come knocking! (I have been to a gig there before) They have been there a long while now because despite the odd loud party/rave/gig they cause no trouble that is usually related to squatters such as drug abuse and other drug related crimes.

Obviously they are bumming of the owners. But these buildings have been unoccupied for a couple years and homeless people now have a place to live. If they wanted to get rid of them for actual renters they could have ages ago, they just arnt using them so at least they are getting used by people in need.

Why would anyone want to be a bum?

Being a bum means you have to go to a ghetto, the police in the suburbs will harass you for loitering and rural areas don't have garbages to eat from/people to ask for money/public restrooms on every corner.

If your going to be a bum, please don't be dumb, like a bum I ran into yesterday at a walgrens drug store...

I was leaving the store after buying 4x 2 liter bottles of coca-cola and this guy asked me for money for food because he said he was really hungry, to which I replied: I don't have any cash left, but would you like one of these bottles of soda?

And he replied by asking me if it was diet soda...-I said no, and he declined the offer. Totally hilarious but true, just happened yesterday..

Yeah, I guess maybe he had a sugar issue like diabetic.. understandable.. although being a bum and diabetic sure wouldn't last long on the streets..

Because of these days being hard as it is to make it the other way. But if you get laid off you just might end up a bum anyway.

Where I live there is a law against giving bums food.

I can see why you should rather give money out of respect for the bums health.

I bet you got your idea from the Occupy movement.

You are asking the wrong people.
Why don't you ask the real homeless of any town USA to get the real scoop and low down.

A lot of "bums" are not that way by choice, while some became homeless through no fault or their own.
Don't be a leach, and don't burden society.
But if youre going to leach, why not just move back in with your parents?

These bum you talk about do have a tendency to hover around hospitals and their waiting rooms . free TV , water , washrooms , sleep from the long waiting times involved with legit patients . Anyone can suspect them as mental patients and pay no mind to them . Mooch a cig if necessary preying on visitors and patients that go outside to get their nicotine fix .

Im sure bums are bums for many different reasons. Many im sure are such by no choice of their own. In my home town we have a few regular faces and my job has given me the chance to talk at good lenghts to most of them.
After speaking to a gentleman and eventually asking how he came to be he open up and described the life he once had. he discribed his wife, kids, pets and job. and how he lost it all when a guy jumped out in front of the train he was driving.
He is judged on a daily basis by society who assume he drinks and gets high with the little handouts he gets.
he described how after the incident he sprialled mentally and which is why he is where he is now.

There is a huge difference from a Bum and for lack of a better word a gypse.

To try and answer at least one of your questions food is often ditributed and set locations each day. A hot cofffee and sandwich if your lucky. Our welfare often places some homeless in bed & breakfasts over the winter nights and being extreamly street smart these guys and gals often network and find places that will let them use wash rooms to clean, shave and generally spruce themselves up a bit.

But there is a shade of every colour, and some decide live off the grid more then others. By choice or not.

The 10% unemployment rate considered staying should get that % unemployed to be preparing to be bums.

Not really. If you have a minimum wage job you can always get room mates or rent a room.

I'm too lazy to be a bum. I just don't have the energy for it. I don't want to stand out in the hot sun or cold wind most of the day begging from passing cars. I don't want to dig through filthy trash cans for soda cans. I don't want to have to keep building and rebuilding a house underneath the freeway overpass. I also don't want to have to fight with other bums all the time who are crazy or aggressive or high on meth and think I have something they don't.

The old romantic hobo days are gone. It's just way too much work to be a bum these days.

There is a HUGE difference between a BUM and Gypsy. Gypsies are survivalists, they might not be accepted in norm societies but they are not anything like the bums hanging around cities, drunk and leaching

it must be the golden times of bummitry (yes its an art form) just go look at all the major city.. join up with them they will teach you the ways
