Well, Dr. Paul once again hits a home run and handles this like a champ. But if I were Dr. Paul, I would have told them to throw away their signs, come down to my campaign office and put your free time into doing something that will create real change. I still feel 99% of OWS has no clue.

I understand it's supposed to be non-partisan, and focusing on the whole system rather than the left/right paradigm, but people really need to see that Ron Paul isn't just your typical crony politician. Don't get me wrong, most occupiers I talk to support Ron Paul, but the movement as a whole is hesitant to get behind any politicians.

If OWS were to get behind RP that is possibly one of the worst things that could happen to his campaign. Remember he is running for the Republican nomination the party that is pretty much bought by wall street. Also the other candidates would have a field day saying how the people that support him wants to destroy the economy in this country.

I think there are plenty of liberal groups here in the US that can set you up to vote. Just pretend you are supporting Obama, and they'll get you registered right away. Then you can vote for Paul!

Yeah anyone who actually READ the article would agree, and Paul supported them. they didn't "crash" anything, the attended a question and answer session, and spoke up at the end.

OP titled the thread in such a way that is sounds like a bunch of OWSers stormed in and took the place over, not even close, they said their thing, sat back down, Ron smiled and told them how he supported them.

honestly, this veiled anti=ows stuff is getting quite obvious.

What always throws me off about OWS is their chanting. I mean, it's a Q&A, they should ask the questions like everyone else. They were more or less making a statement, ok but I could hear the one guy yelling it out just fine, no need to repeat his every word. Their repeating the mic check and repeating everything sounds cultish and just plain weird.

You know, make a bunch of videos of Ron Paul doing/saying stuff that supports the general public (or the "99%"), calling for an end to crony capitalism, him talking about the bailouts, him explaining the nature of the Fed, etc etc etc. If we attach "Occupy" to it, these videos will surely become internet sensations and maybe some people will learn a thing or two about their true targets, and their true allies!
Seriously though. That's how ideas spread!!

I am working on something like that now, I am making website and I will be uploading mass YT videos(my website is actually about the fed, occupy, etc, I am trying to make it professional and non-partisan). I work in online marketing full time self employed, and Im not gonna lie I used to make a lot of money of YT spamming, but I think this time I'm gonna put my knowledge to good use.

I was mildly sympathetic towards the OWS movement but after seeing this and the fact that Ron Paul's name is now censored from the official OWS forum (his name is auto-corrected to "Ron Lawl" ) Link I am withdrawing my support. I still will vehemently support their right to free speech and assembly, but they are looking more and more like a bunch of ignorant Leftists. Sorry, just calling it like I see it.

I see your point. After watching some of the OWS videos, their political views range from Paul supporters to Socialist cry-babies who scoff at Libertarianism. Which by the way, the latter seems to be the majority. Even heard one dimwit say printing more money was good as long as they gave it to them!
So, now I see why RP hasn't aligned with them beyond giving them a pat on the back for agreeing on some issues. I tried to see others' views but now I stand by my opening remark. 99% of OWS has no clue!

Hrmm. I also have mildly supported their efforts, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt at times but hearing that about their official forum, I am joining you in my official withdrawal from defending them.

(Still defending civil liberties and fighting back against police brutality though.)

Of course they have the right to peacefully assemble and speak their views if we agree with them or not. I'd love to see a utopian society myself but we're probably at least a couple centuries away from that possibility.

I am wondering if he aligned himself with the protestors if it would help him or hurt him. He needs something to overcome the media blackout.

If these people are trying to attack RP then they have absolutely nothing to do with the "real" OWS movement. I personally think your title should illustrate this. It probably should say "OWS infiltrators trash RP", lol.

I get not being partisan with a moment such as it is. And I don't think there was any "heckling" per se. It was simply an exploit to get some media time and attention. And it worked. Obviously, we're discussing it here.

And I'm sure that about 99% of the 99%ers will probably vote for Ron Paul.

If, truly, the idea is to be non-partisan with regards to politics, then they saw in the CNN debate last night who would be the best choice. I watched 7 people stand on stage avoiding direct questions by whining and moaning about Democrats and Obama doing this or doing that. I saw one person owning the questions and making no excuses: Ron Paul.

I don't expect the candidates to act any differently in the oval office than on the stage last night. Ron Paul won't make any excuses as to why he can't accomplish something. He'll try to find a way to get it done. The other candidates, as they've shown thus far through their campaigns, will divert their failures to other people.
