PFC Bradley Manning will have a pretrial hearing on December 16, 2011. He has been in confinement now for 17 months. This pretrial is expected to last five days his attorney states. He was arrested in May of 2010 for reportedly passing restricted material to Wikileaks. He was held in solitary confinement from July 2010 in Quantico, Virginia until April 2011.

There will be a vigil held for him on Dec. 16th and a rally held on Dec 17th at Ft. Meade, MD.

What are your thoughts about the length of time he was kept in solitary confinement and the length of time he has been confined?

Is it possible to have a fair trial even though Obama declared him a criminal?!?

It is tragic the way they have treated this young man.We the people deserve to know what our Government is doing in our name with our money.I applaud him (if he actually leaked the info). He is more of a patriot than the majority of people in our elected offices.

Maybe he was trying to do the right thing. Maybe he's a traitor. But ASSUREDLY he made a mistake trusting wikileaks.

I'm betting that PFC Manning--if he actually is responsible--has a much different view of Julian Assange these days.

Party On, Julian!

Anyone who still thinks Assange is a good guy should re-evaluate his broken promises and government-serving schemes ala the encrypted security file, his innuendos about the banking industry, and the diplomatic cables that did little but 'glorify' our foreign policy.

Manning will be sacrificed and get nothing less than life probably. Poor confused kid.

Now, what part of war do we expect to be humane?
"Human-ness" is the first casualty.
This guy knew beforehand his actions would finish him and he still went through with it.
Fighting wars is not brave, standing up to them is.

People must keep in mind and understand Manning is not under civilian domestic law. He is subject to the UCMJ, and as such they give up certain rights knowingly beofre even entering the service.

Depending on what Obama specifically said its possible for th defense to make an argument of undue command influence since the President is in his chain of command. Those comments could taint proceedings.

I would agree had he leaked only information that showed illegal activity, and only if he leaked it to a credible source. The fact he went beyond criminal activity, accessing classified information he had no business accessing, that shows absolutely no crmiinal activity by the US government, working with wikileaks to obtain encrpytion software in order to email the info out without it tripping military filters designed to detect that type of activity, and allowing that informationt o fall into the hands of governments who are not friendly with the US, while also providing that information to government currently engaged in a state of war with the US, makes him a traitor and I hope he is found guilty for his crime.

His actions didnt prevent any deaths -
His actions did not result in any prosecutions
His actions werrent even to expose illegal activity... It was done to exact revenge on a military system he claims didnt like him or support him.

His motives werent altrusitc - they were treasonous and criminal, and I for one look forward to seeing this court case go forward.

Thanks for adding that information that he is under UCMJ. If anyone wants to read about the difference, here is a link that details the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
