Being that the shooter shot into the air
and water and not at people shows he
wanted attention for some reason but
had no intent to wound or kill at that time.
Most likely that is why the cops only
shot him in the ankle.

Would be good if their is a video coming
along on this.

Yea I was thinking the same thing.. Probably a hi-point or kel-tec type. Dunno if the beretta storm comes in .40 wonder if we will ever know.

What I can't wait to hear is who he is, what his background was and, most importantly, where he works.

Scenario 1... A gun enthusiast with a large collection of very good rifles, grew up in a middle class family and is currently an employee of the IRS

Scenario 2... A drug addict who'd just robbed a house with a great gun collection and a suit that fit him, grew up in a trailer park near Rockdale, Texas and is currently homeless and unemployed.

Likely somewhere between those two is where the truth lies.

That's entirely possible, that they were just shooting for the ankle, but I don't believe it for a couple of reasons.

That's a ridiculously hard shot to make, especially if the guy is moving.

If you miss, the round is going into the ground with a good chance for a ricochet.

If you hit, the bullet likely won't stay in the ankle, and you don't want stray bullets in the neighborhood.

I don't know what training HPD had, but I've always heard "Don't draw unless you're prepared to shoot, don't shoot unless you're prepared to kill." Talk to others on ATS, but I haven't heard about shoot to wound unless it was a very specialised officer or situation.

Either that the police got themselves an expert sharp shooter in case the dangerous man with the rifle was a Iraq or Afghanistan vet and killing him will have brought another bad propaganda against the public serves

A friend told me they heard that the
shooter kept yelling - kill me, kill me to
the police. Sounds like possible suicide
by cop if this is true.

Just here say without a source -
perhaps an update will be
soon.

I like how they automatically assume the dude was part of OWS and was a target of police brutality...

I called it before I opened the link

Same here.

And considering that the media routinely confuses rifles and shotguns, the fact that they're this specific about the "unusual" caliber at this early stage of the incident REALLY makes me go "Hmmmmmmmm!"

Something smells a little fishy here, and I doubt it's fish.

Hi there, sorry your family is going through this.

This forum is mainly used by conspiracy theorists. Most of us look at what happens with an open mind. We all speculate about what it means in a wider sense and often people make jokes about what spin the media will put on events.

Although joking may be in bad taste, we are all disturbed by the incident and want to find out what happened so that if the media lies about the subject we can get the truth out in some small way.

We all would like the truth.

Namaste

Exactly. That's why I said this in the post:

So, please, tell us if you can as to what prompted your brother-in-law to take that high-powered rifle into the park and start shooting? Did he have a logical reason?

Back off. Don't come in here railing about our speculation while you "know the truth" and don't care to share it. So what if the lunatic is your brother in law? How about some answers?

A lot of good points have been made, like how does the media (that show us constantly they don't know about firearms) know to call the weapon out as a .40 cal? A lot of speculation has been shared followed by little words like "speculation".

If you know something, spit it out. Or I'll speculate the OWS lunatic, smelly from weeks without a shower and no TP in the park, was the victim of an attempted rape, went home to get his Keltec Sub 2000, came back to the park for revenge but couldn't go through with it and attempted to shoot a pond instead. The police, commonly found wanting in marksmanship qualification to hit the side of a barn on a dry, windless, sun shiny day could hear the mournful cries of the victim hood, and instead of putting him out of his misery decided to just whack him in the ankle to prolong any pain he might have been in. Aliens watched the whole thing but everyone was in a panic so nobody noticed the mothership. Little did your brother in law know at the time, a chupacabra was in the weeds near the pond at that moment and almost got his head blown clean off.

Or you can elaborate....

think what you might but to my SPECULATIONS maybe your the one who got raped and i will not share any information due to the privacy of my sister if you dont like that because you are extremely nosey then not my problem. how about you get a life a real one. everyone else who has been respectful to a degree thank you all i will say is dont believe everything you see on tv when the trial starts then you all will get your answers. all i care about right now is my sister and their one year old baby who is the real ones who are being tormentated at this time. this is the last post i will post because i dont have time for people like the one who made the scenarios out of thier a$$! i pray none of you have to ever experience what my family and i are going through espcially right before the holidays.

Sorry to hear that. Whatever the case I hope you and your family can come together at such a difficult time.

So would I be far off the mark to speculate that someone close to the shooter was staying at the Occupy camp and was assaulted? And that might be why the gunman, aka your brother in law felt the need to go down there as many crimes at OWS encampments go unreported?
