Do we really need ads from Fubar.com on ATS???

FUBAR is actually a somewhat dated military acronym for Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition

It should also be noted here that during WW2 when this term came into its own, the word 'Fouled' was more often than not replaced with the other F-bomb word.

Have you clicked on the "Ad Choices" button on the bottom of the page?
It says it displays ads based on whats in your browser to give you ads you might be interested in...

not me saying this but the "ad choices" thing.

It also lets you Opt Out of different ad companies...
in other words you can "control" the ads a couple ways:
Change/delete your browser cookies, or opt out, or both of course.

I find it difficult to ignore a close up of a woman's ass appearing in a banner right at the top of the page next to the ATS logo and just about the ATS toolbar.

I'd like to read what most of the ladies of ATS think about this ad?

I don't get the fubar ad, so I don't know about it. I do have series of pics show up on the side sometimes of some rather busty Russian women, and Asian women looking for dates.
As a woman, I'm not interested, but they don't bother me.

I've seen the ads multiple times. They wouldn't really bother me if they weren't such an extreme closeup. "Bother" probably isn't the best word, because they don't really bother me in the traditional sense. Its more like "come on, are you serious?" I know ATS needs the ads, but do they really have to be of a woman's half-covered butt?

So, yeah. Get rid of the FUBAR ads. It makes ATS smutty and lowers the value of a place that should be a meeting of the minds. If ATS were a dating site, these ads would be acceptable.

constitutes the other oh say TENS OF THOUSANDS of other users

I just have an all around problem when advertisers have limited creativity and can't think of any other way to market something than to use the female body.

The *would you like to go back to school with a grant (using sexy women as there hit point)
is undermining the the poor by having free money thrown at them
is more loansharking DESPICABLE and half ass'ed then any fubar ad would ever be..

Are there not usury laws against such practice?

I actually met my wife on line about 11 years ago... and because I used yahoo to look around and meet her, and they still send me ads every so often in my e-mail... that determines my seeing this FUBAR ad on ATS.... really? And my searches determine all the other stuff I see advertised here...

Why do shows for vampires show up? I hate those shows. I don't see ads for tractors on ATS... or goats... or gold... or long term food storage... or john boats... or crabbing? Why this FUBAR site? I should be seeing Massey Fergusson or Kubota.... Why don't I see ads for Tarter gates and fencing... or even ads for Bob Ross paints... I love Bob Ross... the "happy little trees" painter.... but no, we get FUBAR.

I'll tell you why it peeves me...

I like women... I love women... I used to go to Hooters and couldn't understand why some folks were offended by Hooters... Then my wife to be asked " How would you feel if a bunch of guys were looking at your daughter like that?"

Yeah... that kind of made it real. And I never really looked at Hooters or porn or ads like FUBAR ever the same. In fact, I don't really enjoy any of them anymore and find them rather offensive... yeah, I liked looking at a woman's butt... still do.

However, is it in good taste to just throw it up there on the screen? Could we be a little more discreet? It obviously appeals to the lesser nature of men and portrays the troubling image of women as sex objects... something to be ooggled and used.

How appealing would our male members find a close up shot of a man's crotch with a bulge? How about our older members that have daughters... how about a shot of her with her butt plastered right across the header?

I ponder the dissappearance of mature and intelligent conversation in most of the threads that used to be a signiture trademark of ATS. Well... with ads like FUBAR , it is easy to see the new standard established by the owners and operators of ATS and what they expect of it's members.

I checked it out on your suggestion, but was a little suprised by what it told me.

The purpose of the Advertising Option Icon is to notify you that The Above Network, LLC works with third parties that may use information about your visits to this site in order to provide advertisements of interest to you.


I've never heard of FUBAR ( the website anyway), is it a skin site? Not sure why "third parties" think I'm interested in naked butts? I have posted in a few threads about Jerry Sandusky/ pedophiles.....is that why?

No... there is nothing I can do about it... and every adult has the right to do and enjoy what they wish. I advocate freedom where ever it arises and is expressed.

However, if I want to look at women's scantily clad backsides, I can find them. When I come to ATS, I come here for news, ideas, and intelligent discussions of those ideas... not bikini clad bottoms.

On the other hand, perchance I can do something after all... simply leave this website and abandon it to the mature and expansive minds of defenders of freedom such as yourself.

Im glad others confirmed that it is your search history that powers a lot of the add choices. I was looking at hunting clothing and now I have hunting ads thats just the way it goes. As for younger ATS members, I always laugh when people say stuff like this. I highly doubt there are to many kids on here that arent in high school and even those numbers are probably low comparably. And besides this is such a cheery site anyways, we should be really worried about butts when people are talking bout starting revolutions and describing the end of the world. Its the same thing when I hear people say this is a family show on conspiracy radio shows. How many 5-10 year olds are listening to Alex Jones or David Icke? The impact is limited to people who see much worse things in their everyday life

Defiantly. Thats what I am saying. Id say almost no "younger members" exist on this site as was mentioned in the OP. Id say the youngest person is probably 16 or so. And if they have never seen a butt then they are very sheltered. I just dont see the concern for the young. Its like Alex Jones talking about his show being a family show but he plays clips of dying Libyan children and talks about how we are all going to die in horrible ways. If kids are are listening to any of this material there is worse problems
