Man Arrested in Bomb Plot-NYC(News conference 7:30 ET)

Police have arrested a man who was planning on building and detonating a pipe bomb focused on New York government facilities, a source familiar with the case said. The New York Post reported that the suspect was targeting soldiers returning home and their families. The man, who has been under surveillance for a year, was arrested in the past 24 hours for purchasing the materials to make explosives. He is believed to have acted as a “lone wolf.” Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly will hold a press conference at 7:30 p.m.

Also the FBI was not told about this incident, the NYPD was the only organization to be involved in stopping this attack.

Whats Thanksgiving without a little terror threat? Just to remind you all that you should be thanking the government too for stopping this mad, evil genius. Pipe bombs? Not exactly the sophisticated, laser guided high powered stuff then? I suppose it makes a change from exploding shoes and exploding underwear though. Ah well...
