So just hours after the arab leauges ultimatum expired, RPG's shell his compound. This is going to happen VERY FAST imo. rt.com...
From the article:The headquarters of the Syrian ruling party in Damascus has been shelled with rocket propelled grenades on Sunday, with the armed branch of the opposition claiming responsibility. The violence erupted hours after the Arab League ultimatum expired.
At least two rocket propelled grenades were fired at the Baath Party headquarters in Damascus early on Sunday. There have been no reports of deaths or injuries, however. According to local media the building was mostly empty at the time of the attack.

“The attack was just before dawn and the building was mostly empty. It seems to have been intended as a message to the regime,” confirmed a witness, as cited by Reuters.
It was the first insurgent attack reported in Damascus since the uprising against the Assad regime began in mid-March.

I found it odd that this happened only a few hours after yesterday's "secret" meeting between UK officials and the rebels.

Britain in secret talks with Syrian rebels

Am I the only one that sees a possible connection?

I had a sneaking suspicion that something would happen after Assad spoke out recently but man that was quick.

Great catch.

Assad may make Gadaffi look like a choir boy, but we must remember when a country is sanctioned to its knees, it is very hard to keep a country happy. With that it seems that more of the problems in Syria right now are not the fault of Assad but more like the work of western intelligence agencies supporting the opposition. Does Assad have mercenaries in Western countries uprising against our governments? I do not think so.

What ever happens in that country is their problem, is always their problem and should stay their problem with out foreign interference, whethee we agree or disagree with the internal problems. It will only cost more lives and will most likely spill across to other countries as well, including Israel. The same goes for the Iranian crisis which may be kicking off soon as well.

Well during the Iraq war many news agencies reported that Saddams WMD's were moved to Syria and the arab spring uprisings etc and Libya nato just may have new mission or the US.

Who knows but people need to start paying closer attention to Syria the "justifications" are many take your pick.

I guess its round two. MSM making fake films of how the Syrian people are this and that all the while staged in another country. More WACO style you have to kill the children to save the children. In this case we have to kill the arabs to save the arabs. Blood everywhere body parts everywhere. Bu gee TPTB will happy with all the billions of contracts they will recieve to rebuild the country after destroying the country. The mercenary military will be drunk with the blood they crave to spill. How much more suffering will the people have to endure for profit of a handful of leeches.

A handsome young 15 year old Syrian went to school like any other good student......his mother never saw him again alive. Assad's security forces murdered this lovely kid just because he refused to march in support of Assad:

People here really need to get their facts strait.
The riots and fighting in Damascus started at least a week ago. The fire sure didn't start immediately after what ever meeting took place a day or two ago. i'm not sure why you are surprised by it, since the protests were constantly spreading and bound to reach Damascus sometime, especially when no solution is in sight.

Someone implied that the dire economic stress is caused by sanctions. Again, not true.
For example, hundreds of thousands of Syrians were forced to leave their farmlands due to a very poor agricultural governmental planing and policy. That poor planing literally dried out their lands.
Further more, Turkey dramatically reducing the flow of major rivers going into Syria and used primarily for irrigation. Drought of recent years didn't make this situation any better.
All those farmers began settling near cities, thus causing more economic pressure buildup on each of them .
This is an ongoing process that started years ago.

No, these riots in Syria did not start a week ago; they started months ago during the Egyptian "revolution" . American/Qatari boots already on the ground within days while the Egyptians were amassing in Cairo. And to my knowledge it was also around the same time weaponry was quietly being smuggled in to Libya to the rebels by NATO.

This whole tensions between Arabs and between Muslims are because of divide and conquer. Iraq invasion on Iran was the same plot.

As usual you're the one who needs to straighten out their facts. No one said that the attacks just started. The attacks have been happening well over a week if you want to get technical.

I said that this specific attack that the OP is discussing happened shortly after the meeting I mentioned. Why don't you try staying on topic and try discussing the information the OP submitted.

I can be even more specific (trying to find the article somewhere here....), Syrian demonstrations and attacks upon started almost a week after Cairo's "revolution" and Assad had a full black out of all communications including internet. No one knew what was going on in Syria until videos were smuggled out.

The U.S. has been attacking Syria for years now, this is nothing new.

This current "rebel" uprising has been public since August at least, the major attacks in Damascus have just began though.
