Gotta say, I think the article disproves its own validity with it's pictures. These reports stem back to the late nineties, when a new breed of horror film emerged. The black eyes weaseled their way into our psyche through movies like the ring and the grudge. It's like the old UFO abduction cases where the witness clearly saw an alien in a fishbowl helmet, just as they were presented in that era. Humans have great imaginations, and they aren't entirely under our control. I, personally, have scared myself half to death on nights when I'm stressed out and alone, wondering what that bump on the door was. It's not unreasonable to believe that line of thought could go just a bit further.

Also don't underestimate the influence of films like Village of the Damned on new age flimflam of this nature. The idea that there are demonic or paranormal or alien children isn't new. Of course in Village of the Damned the children's eyes glowed bright white but the affect was still just as eerie then. Pseudoscience, particularly new age beliefs of this kind, often borrow from folklore, urban legends, science fiction and horror. There is even the craze of Japanese horror relating to ghosts of young children (someone above me mentioned The Grudge) which often have black eyes.

I am sorry to sound so rude but I think this is the most ludicrous explanation for black eyed kids ever heard. Someone tattoo'd their eyes while they were sleeping? Can you say that to yourself out loud and see if it still sounds like a good idea?

Tattoos hurt, pretty bad even on the fleshy part of your arm. There is no way in hell you sleep through an eyeball tattoo. Completely illogical, you didn't expose anything but your own lack of creativity.

eye tattooing is not something easily done in a street environment. There are classically three ways of doing it that are widespread. To be clear, this is the transparent part of the eye that covers the iris and pupil.

You can:
1. burn the cornea with a stitlet and then apply colorant.
2. separate a layer off the cornea and apply colorant between the layers
3. Ink and needles applied in various ways.

None of these are very easy. Ink and needles require either a numbing agent or a way to immobilize the eye to keep the patient/victim from jumping about. to do this to an unwilling person whose eyes are jittering about is next to impossible, and if they are unconscious, then you have the issue of eyes rolling back as they sleep, thus complicating that idea altogether, rendering it moot.

To render the entire eye a color, you would have to tattoo the sclera, which is different than corneal tattoos. Sclera is the white part of the eye. this is a NEW technique which has only recently been explored. I

BEKs were, according to this source, first documented in 1998. Now, in this time frame, modern corneal tattooing was not common, in fact it was not really exposed to the mainstream world until a few documentaries showed the very NEW practice of tattooing scleras with injectable ink. I think it was about four years ago that this new method of tattooing was covered (maybe Taboo, that show on the History Channel).

Either way, BEK predates this technique, so that pretty much invalidates this idea in the first place.

Prove to me that those issues exist, then we can talk about them. UFOs and a feeling of dread doesn't really go far on logic. They can be attached to any number of real life scenarios without much trouble. A homeless person knocking on your door asking for things or rides would give the average person plenty of dread as is. Add oddly colored eyes, and you've got yourself a really scary, but very plausible situation.

uhm.. so your questioning Bussoboy's post, and you are saying that these children (small children) and adults are all getting their eyes tattooed? That seems like quite a stretch.
Take for instance Tyler, The Creator. Now i know that this is a music video, but if you listen to Tyler at all you know how demonic and dark his songs are, in this music video you can see his eyes go "black", just throwing that out there.

Good point, I dont think ANYONE has pointed that out yet in all 7 pages......

Actually, I discounted full-corneal contact lenses from two sources.
In 'The Making of Thriller" John Landis talked about how Michael Jackson could only wear his contacts for a short amount of time.
In the DVD commentary to Star Trek: First Contact Alice Krieg reported that she could only wear her contacts for 45 seconds at a time before they had to come out because they hurt so bad...

Thus, I discounted that as a possible source, as supposedly full-corneal contacts hurt like hell. From all the reports I've seen, it was a no-go, though.

I hear what your saying. I havent said anything pointing to what I may or may not believe about BEK's. I was simply pointing out that people should read the thread before posting. Pretty much from the start of this thread, right through all 7 pages, people are debating about the possibility of tattoo Vs contact lenses, then the poster I quoted shows up on page 7 suggesting Contact lenses as a possibility, quite clearly showing they had not read the thread, or were trolling for a similar response to the 1 i provided.
And BTW, using Michael Jackson as an example to what a normal Homo-Sapien would feel!!?

Pain levels are pain levels. MJ sat through quite a bit of body modification between skin bleaching, nose jobs, and other constructive surgeries... if he can tolerate that and not take full-corneal contacts...

He may not be normal, but my point still stands, they hurt too much for long-term usage.

Your right, I was jesting (thought the 2 LOL faces and a grin would have made that clear), although i do believe MJ's doctors would have had all sorts or pain relieving medication (legal and illegal, keep in mind the stories of his doctor hurriedly gathering up bottles of medication when the paramedics showed up the night he died.)
MJ aside, your point is valid, but so is mine...... (not the MJ 1, the reading of threads 1)

Its also maybe worth pointing out that the most recent of your examples of full corneal contacts being painful is from 15 years ago (first contact). A lot can happen in the development of a product in that period of time...

It doesn't really matter. Knowledge is power. Knowing that eyes can in fact be tattooed is a good thing. It may result in a member learning something new, and not jumping to conclusions about anyone with dark eyes. You just took what could've been a fun thread, and turned it into a bickering contest. Good on you!

You just try to come up with all kinds of absurd stories so you won't have to admit that this might be a paranormal event. Imagine someone tattooed your eyeballs against your will while you're passed out -- would you then run around the neighborhood knocking on people's doors, behave in a threatening and intimidating way, and ask them to be let in to use the phone... and then, when someone offers you to bring a cell phone outside, get ticked off because really, all you want is get into the house? What kind of sense does that make?

BTW, there IS one story of a woman who didn't resist and did let the kids in. Then she noticed the eyes and got scared and asked what they wanted, and one of the kids said, "We're here to collect you." Whereupon she ran into the bathroom and locked herself in until they were gone.

Am I reading these posts wrong or are people discrediting contact lenses in favor of believing children with black eyes wandering the planet trying to gain entrance to peoples houses to kill them or something?

Oddly enough, tales of such black-eyed beings go all the way back to at least the 16th century. In the writings of Cornelius Agrippa, he describes the "Friday Demons"- handsome fellows with all black eyes, no whites, whose appearance was often preceded by "a brilliant star". Now, in the 16th century there were no colored contacts or eye tattooing procedures (I hope not anyway- it would have been a good way to blind oneself in such ignorant & unsanitary times).

Apparently people then suffered the same "visitations" as people claim to now- & were just as afraid of them. They most often assumed the appearance of well dressed young men. Magicians claimed that they could be summoned- for what nefarious purpose, I can't imagine.

Astrophysicist Jacques Vallee also mentions the "Friday Demons" in his famous book, "Passport to Magonia".

I really don't think you know any homeless people, or anything about about them. I have two friends who are social workers who work with the homeless every day, & while I get what you are trying to say, my friends have never heard of anything that you've described- & they've been doing their jobs for over 20 years!

More than half of homeless people are families. Most homeless people work, but cannot find affordable housing on the wages they make. In expensive areas like California, especially, this is true. People have jobs but live out of their car if they're lucky enough to have one. If they don't, they create makeshift shelters under freeway ramps, in abandoned buildings, or live at homeless shelters (if there's room). There are also homeless camps & tent cities all over the US.

The homeless who are out of doors are the most vulnerable. They are preyed upon by all sorts of horrible people, especially by Neo-Nazis, who think that homeless people have no right to exist. In Cincinnati recently, a gang of 4 Neo-Nazis, all of them US Armed Forces servicemen on leave, deliberately set out to find homeless people to prey upon & found a married couple sleeping in a makeshift shelter in Cincy's Northside area. These 4 men beat the living daylights out of those poor people.

Cincinnati has a newspaper on line called Street Vibes. Anyone can read it for free at: streetvibes.wordpress.com. This paper is written by homeless people. In their own words, anyone can find out how easy it is to become homeless (all one has to do is lose their job) & what it is like to try to survive every day while homeless. It's not quite the way most people might think. This paper is downloadable for free, also.
