The police are hired goons. And we hired them. They do escalate violence at protests, becasue it is a fantastic thing for the goverment. The media will spin it as violent protesters behind it all, and paint the filth in a golden light. This undermines the cause of the protest and makes people against them, becasue lots of people are too trusting and just beleive everything that falls out of the telly. The goverment know this and use it to their advantage. The police know how to make a protest go smoothly, and without violence. I've been on plently of completly peaceful protests. I've also been on protests which kick off, and the only thing different about the protests, was the tactics the police used. The police can use snatch squads to remove any violent people from a crowd, this is a very effective way of doing things. or, they can kettle you and start hitting you, that's a very effective way of pissing several thousand people off. Not a great way to control a crowd at all, great way to make a crowd angry and volatile though. They know exaclty what they're doing and they do it for political gains. The police are supposed to be politically impartial, but they are far from it. Because......the police are hired goons, and we hired them. It's time we took back their jobs and gave them to people who weren't sociopaths and mindless morons.

Thank you for being so civil in our discussion. I usually feel very attacked when I discuss my views regarding police. It is true that members of society don't like force, and when force is used become angry. At the same time, society dictates the laws, and dictates the use of force. I should have said verbal deescalation. That is a big one among the LE I know. Verbal Judo.

Then a bit of advice.

Don't open with statements discussing your opponents character, as you did when you started talking about a poster's "vampire" thing. I'm not even sure what that's about, but it doesn't matter. If you want less inflammatory discussion against your character, then do what you wish for yourself, and don't bring people's character into the discussion. Then you won't get "attacked", as you put it.

It's ad hominem, and it spreads like a virus when brought into a discussion. "Appealing to one's character instead of the argument they present."

You claim to be a vampire (no, seriously, you claim to be a vampire). Get mad at the police for enforcing laws that the people have enacted yet you apparently run around sucking blood...

OP your logic is laughable. If they were hired goons (assuming your question wasn't a retarded metaphor) why would people not claim to know them? I am so tired of the ATS f the police bandwagon. Go on a ride along and see if you still hate cops. They are (for the most part) good men and women that legitimately want to help and do good. They get put in these crap situations trying to fight for the public by fighting the public and all you idiots can do is belittle them. I really think everyone that whines about police has a criminal record and is unable to accept blame. Or they are 15.

There are bad cops. I HATE bad cops. They are the reason idiots hate all cops. Grow up ATS. Go talk to a cop.

Whoa! Thanks for all the personal slams!

Actually, I am 37 years old and I have had to use the services of police officers to help me when I was in bad situations a few times. No, I don't have any criminal record. I do not hate all cops. In fact, I do not "hate" anybody for that matter.

So now that we have a more details history on myself, let's get back to the subject.

I think that all officers are taught in college and officer schools how to make peace in every situation. But once they get out there, they might get what I call a "god complex". See, I am a nurse and I see this time and time again at my hospital. New residents (doctors in training) start out with the god complex. They look down their noses on all people. Then, after they kill a few people with their bad decisions, they become more humble. After they get out of residency they are good doctors for awhile with a good bedside manner and treat the other hospital staff with respect. But then a few years down the road, some of them get that haughty attitude back. They treat everyone (patients and staff alike) like they are second-class citizens and they are the "gods".

Same thing with police. I believe they get this attitude based on their feeling of power over other people, who they do truly believe are in the wrong.

Now, the subject of this post is are the police who are abusing the protesters (mainly I mean the ones that are dressed in the riot gear and doing the terrorizing) hired thugs. Correct, meaning who pays them and who gives them their orders. In other words, my theory is that maybe these guys don't have training in maintaining a peaceful environment and were actually sent their to terrorize and beat people. I don't think "hired thugs" is really a "retarded metaphor".
