i'm a basically handy guy when it comes to building and fixing many different things.
almost to the point that its bothersome because friends and family bring me stuff to fix so they don't need to pay the high cost at shops or having people like plumbers come to their houses.
i have no doubt that many here are struggling a bit financially and are procrastination on repairs that should get done. i'm one of these.
this is an invitation to ask me and any others who wish to participate about your projects, repairs etc....
even though i consider myself quite handy, i'm sure many others have knowledge exceeding mine.
so, any questions?
can i help diagnose that noise your car has been making?
can i link you to good plans for a green house?....etc........

I think knots are an important 'how to'.

Watching survival shows like Bear Grylls on Discovery hes always using some complicated looking knott to get him out of situations.

yes, knots can be very useful.
my favorite, which i only know as a 'truckers knot', a basic loop you put the loose end through so you can tighten down any load.
rope goes through the loop, pull till tight and secure with a half hitch.
it's amazing how much weight this can hold.

here, i just found this.
how to tie a truckers knot.

you should be able to order through a bookshop : ashleys book of knots.

A very good guide to nearly every type of knot and clearly illustrated how to tie them.

i dont think knots are very important, theres all sorts of knots you can show off to your boy scout friends, but IRL if you can tie a knot, you'll do just fine.
back on topic, i agree!
