Try this test at home - make or buy one meat loves and one veggie pizza... see which goes first!
I'll pass, we don't eat pizza at home.

We don't really go out to eat it, either.

personly i think pizza is allmost a perfect food it has all four food groups if u put toppings on it like pepperoni and mushrooms. i allways considered the tomato sauce the fruit. look at the Hawaii pizza it has everything u need. bread from the crust veggie from the sauce milk from the cheese and meat from the chicken and fruit from the pineapples. now how could this be so terrible.

So is cake.

Doesn't mean that you should eat it exclusively or not at all.
It is all about self-control when nutrition is concerned with obesity.

Nor should you allow bread to be replaced with cake, don't you agree?

Not my problem if they don't have any self control when it comes to what they eat.... or their children eat, for that matter.

Oh...contraire my friend, it will be your problem when health premiums, costs increase because of a national epidemic of obesity and associated health problems. Productivity in the US will also go down. And BTW most schools don't give the kids an option of what to eat or even provide any education on nutrition. But do you really trust young kids to make the proper decision and select the right meal when mom and dad isn't around and all their friends are asking for the pizza/ chicken nugget / cheeseburger meal?

Trust me....poor nutrition / health is the biggest threat facing the US's future and needs to be addressed. Watch the vid I linked above and then watch the whole episode.

Look, i'm glad you're not fat - but that's hardly the point.

You're obviously not replacing vegetables with pizza in your family's diet. And yes, four food groups can easily be represented in a pizza, but that doesn't mean it's actually healthy for you.

The point of this - is the GOP has decided it's ok for schools to replace vegetables with pizza.

Seems that Gov Christie has indeed been eating his vegetables all along.

Keep up the good work.
If reality doesn't fit, change it.

This is my child's menu at school lots of different food not all the most healthy but lots of variety. I hope it stays this way all food is cooked in house. this is what you are served in Oklahoma. I could be happy with this menu.
Elementry menu

This is the high school menu it has alot more choices but there not real healthy imo a kid could eat cheese burgers every day if he wished seem like the high schools with the more unhealthy choices is where the problem may come in at least here.

I have a 5 year old in Kindergarten. His teacher has a signed statement from the wife and I instructing that he is only to eat the home prepared meal he is sent to school with every day. I could give two flips about fruits, vegetables, meats, grains, (not so much dairy, as he has a casein allergy... but I digress) The reason he isn't allowed to eat the government approved "healthy" school lunch is because of the abundance of absolute CRAP that is mixed together with the healthy food bases to produce an "edible" that is anything but healthy.

Before we even begin to mess around with nonsense like "is it a vegie?" or "Does this meet the RDA for vitamin XYZ?" we need to look at all of the additives, preservatives, chemicals, and debris that gets thrown into those school meals. As a starting point, take a look at the sodium content of your local school menu (I believe most all districts now include a nutritional value listing on their websites for the school menus.) My son's first week of school, day #2, the lunch du jour was lasagna, a roll, fruit cup, milk, and a small salad.
Anchorage Elementary School Nutritional Info table
Sodium...
Lasagna: 924 mg
Roll: 201 mg
Milk: 120 mg
Dressing: 131 mg

GRAND TOTAL: 1,376 milligrams of sodium...

For a 5 year old!!!

These little children aren't part of a road crew digging a ditch in west Texas, mid July, under 110 degree heat. Their little bodies do not need meals with a thousand mg of sodium in them. Furthermore, way to freaking ensure yet another generation of Americans who can't enjoy a meal for the natural taste of their food because the salt shaker is the first thing they grab when their plate arrives.

So the American tax payers are paying their congress members / officials' outrageous salaries, pensions, bonuses, and benefits so they can collect porn on the internet AND debate if pizza is a vegetable?

Daycares which provide meals have similar rules. Ketchup/Catsup is considered a vegetable, jelly/jam is considered a fruit. I believe that if it fulfills the nutritional requirement similar to it's parent, being a derivative is considered efficient.

Wonder how they classify cottonseed oil???
