the article explains it all. Bloomberg went against the court and raided OWS anyways.

It seems to me ....people want to get arrested.....otherwise...they would stay away now.

OWS had 2 months to make their point. The people going to and from work...the business owners...the city officials....other people who want to enjoy the park....without being in fear....2 months was a generous amount of time...to allow the protestors to be there.

It's time to go!

I've gone to the gym and just got back.....and I was thinking...that too... some of the OWS crowd are homeless and having a place to lay their heads and have a meal with company...probably means a lot to them...I do have compassion and an understanding of their situation...I do care...and I believe that most of the OWS protestors are sincere...but (like I said above) ...they have had 2 months to make their point.

You have to talk about this first before just blindly supporting them

I swear ATS is turning into GLP with all these antiOWS posts.

ATS is different and a special place to be, precisely because both sides can have a lively yet respectful debate over the whole OWS thing. One side would be silenced or strongly encouraged to bite their tongues if ATS were becoming more like....some other sites.

What is worse? A dirty park and some scared elite or an Orwellian 1984 scene?

Americans have a right to protest, they have a right to assemble, and they most certainly have a right to occupy a park.

Exactly, OWS will not be stopped. If they are legally stopped then violence will ensue, mass violence.

The land of the free and home of the brave, (according to some ATS members) has become "the land of freedom until I get tired of your freedom, and the home of the brave on the internet but not in front of the police."

This is a RIGHT regardless of how it annoys people. The POINT is to annoy people, and to RAISE awareness. They've been succeeding, and they need to keep striving.

It's NOT time for OWS to go, it's time for them to take it to the next level. It's about time to converge and join occupy DC.

And people don't WANT to be arrested, they are WILLING to be arrested. It's an occupation! You don't just give up when the police come! That's not even how you PROTEST! If you believe in a cause, and believe the police are serving injustice, you DEFY ORDERS!

It doesn't need to be stopped. I don't see people marching for civil rights today.

And the only shot at being successful is being non-violent, even if the opposition gets violent.

If you wish for a swift eradication, go ahead, give violence a try.

They are marching for economic rights today. People are tired of the elite few making all the decisions on how and where and the value of the other 99%'s money.

The only economic right that exists is the right of you to your property and whatever economic advantage or disadvantage that carries with it.

I know the slogans, I know the rallying cry.

I also witnessed the civil rights movement, and no comparison can be drawn beyond that both involve a group of people that are unhappy with something.

So far when it comes to numbers and discipline the civil rights movement has OWS beat by a landslide. That's not anti OWS, that's the truth.

I think they should be MADE to clean the park each day!
that is only fair. they make a big mess.
and they should keep paths clear.
and they should only use half of the path.
so they dont stop others from using the park.

only then can they be said to be having a peaceful demonstration.
and ever one will have very little reason to complain.

they need to get as many people as they can on there side.

...

See, that is the main problem. We are currently paying the government a large portion of our earnings and they spend it how they please. They also bailed out their elite Wall Street buddies while the tax payers pick up the tab. Does a failing business have the right to your property?

Keep in mind, these Wall Street buddies of theirs put them into office. Wall Street is the source of the evil, the politicians are just weak pushovers that want to bottom feed off the elites and do as they are told. Hell, quite a few of them are part of the Wall Street crowd!

Part of the problem here is that this Park is private property. How can support the protesters by claiming they are only exercising their right to Assembly while allowing these same protesters to infringe on the property rights of others?

THAT MAKES NO SENSE!!!!Text

That was part of the thought process when I came up with a thread that I think is a possible solution. Now I know I have shamelessly plugged my thread in a couple OWS threads, but I am not doing so for stars or flags. You can keep them. I honestly want this to be seen and want to hear the thoughts of others. So please, check out the link and let me know what you think.
