If you were a itty bitty country, like Israel, and your people, the Jews, were targeted for destruction just because they are Jews, and a country, or several, had in their Constitution that their mandate(reason for being) was to destroy your people and religion(which is one and the same) wouldn't you want to pre-empt a strike on them?
