I have a Norton Firewall up and running and a few nights ago i had over 100 hackers trying to break into my computer.

When i disabled the firewall to see if it really is hackers nothing bad happened, my computer was still safe, im starting to think it could be a hoax from Norton, does anyone else have this same problem?.

First of all, home computers are rarely a target of "hackers", unless of course, you really had it coming. If anyone's gotta get in your PC, it'll be some dumb script kiddie.

What you saw is just normal net activity, servers (and possibly some virus/worms) scanning others computers on the net. This happens constantly.

i thought somebody was trying to hack into my computer once, because a new profile had been created on my computer with password protection on it
I hadn't created it, so i instantly thought eek hackers...
I found out a automatic update from Microsoft
had created it for some stupid reason

A good program for detection trojans and data miners.. etc is Ad-aware 6, it's free if you can find the free home version

Propably it's just MSBlaster or other worm searching vulnerable PCs by knocking "doors".

What Norton told about these attacks/port scans?
Did you save any details like port numbers?

Its most likely just some Zombie DOS attack. Tons of computers unwillingly DOSing other unwilling IP addys.
