I think the gaffe there (not that many will notice...) was that he just said Reagan said that Russia would be left on the ash heap of history, and that that has happened.

I believe he was referring to the Soviet Union... NOT Russia. A bit of a difference there.

I don't think most republicans understand how unelectable some of these guys really are. You have roughly 40% R and D, and 20% independents in the middle. It's the 20% that decide all major elections, and they will never vote for a guy who went after Bill Clinton for sex with Monica while carrying on their own extra-marital affairs. Newt is not a serious candidate for anything, he has too much baggage.
