I never really use this category because i dont really rant on companies or on people...but this is just ridiculous!.

I ordered something online about 3 weeks ago and i have been waiting ever since... USPS processed the package and it is in "transit to my destination" that was 2 WEEKS ago.... and it still says the same thing.. i mean come on the least they can do is update where the heck it is at.
I live in America (Cali) and the packages were shipped to me via USPS and it usually take 5-12 business days for delivery.
i called them and they just gave me the same info it says on the tracking...also i contacted the external website where i ordered my stuff? yeah they tell me to contact them in one more week if i dont get anything.

im really upset and angry because i did buy stuff worth $300.

Man I feel for you. I ordered a pattern, a paper pattern for making a handbag. It took 3 weeks and when I got it, it wasn't a pattern, it was step by step instruction, that I could'nt figure out. NO PICTURES!?

Anyway, I lost the peice of paper that was "the instuctions" and I needed them for a class project. So, I email the people to please send me another set. They email me back that they will mail it to me!??

Well, they charged my credit card 2Xs and it took another 3 weeks to get the piece of paper with "instructions" in the mail. Thankfuly, my class was postponed, and we can still try to decipher the "instructions" as a group project.

FURIOUS!

Hope I was able to add to your rant.......

The merchandise should have reached you by now. If they had to put your order....on back order....they should let you know. Someone along the way....has really messed up your order. It has got to be somewhere. I am upset for you. This kind of thing really angers me too.

Thanks that helps a little, but i know the stuff wasn't back ordered because they shipped it on the 3rd day of my order.

I will have to call USPS again and talk to the higher ups in their company i guess =\

Whenever given a choice, I choose to not use USPS for the reason that you are experiencing right now. At least UPS/Fedex keeps their tracking up to date. Neither one has ever lost a package that I can remember either. I have a friend that lives on the other side of the country and we send beer back and forth via UPS every month or so. We have done this for almost 10 years and have never had a breakage or loss!

Down with USPS!

Guess I am less materialistic. a $300 loss is no biggie and definitely not enough to rant on a board about hehe. BTW... I hardly make any money for anyone thinking I even come close to upper lower or even lower middle
Although... I DO own a macbook pro from money I saved up a long while to get.

I'd cut my losses or, if done through ebay, dispute the issue with them... you usually get your $$ back.

Yeah i would much prefer UPS or FEDEX due to the fact that they update on every location (or almost every) but the cost was outrageous...$19 for standard (4-8 business days)... USPS $10 for standard (5-12 business days)

With all of the recent cutbacks the USPS has had to resort to creative methods of rewarding top employees. Sorry for your loss.

Well you are dealing with a US government controlled service. They have been going down hill now for several years. let me support your rant with a couple of others. Like a rather expensive to ship item that was sent fully insured and overnight express USPS. It arrived three months later. Online tracking proved to be little more than they could only tell me it was in transit and when it was delivered. Nothing more. A complete joke.
Then a while back our family sent a birthday card. We are only 30 miles away..... It arrived 4 months later and was postmarked in El Salvador S. America. Last month I ordered an i3 processor online. Someone had opened the box, removed the processor and left the Heat sink and fan for me. Insurance was a Joke. Now I only use Fedex
USPS does not stand behind their service at all. And if you complain there are those signs that threaten you if you loose your temper.
I may buy a stamp now and then but I will not use USPS if I can possibly help it.
Our mail delivery is at best lethargic and at the most very unpredictable. 5 years ago I knew what time it was by watching the mail man. Now they have a second mail person walking behind the first one with a timer watching his every move. I have no idea who the mail person is now, haven't seen one for some time though the mail is in the box daily, and I do suspect some mail doesn't get to our house at all..well we do get some for the neighbor from time to time.
I am sure not all who work at USPS are part of this problem but I can tell you without a doubt something is very very wrong with USPS and has been for a long time. You really have no recourse and the seller in a week will probably initiate a complaint for you since they have the information on shipment. It may take you several months to get your money back though if they file an insurance claim for that money. Hope all turns out well.

If you want to learn how to handle this and the US post office, go to ebay community link at the top - discussion boards - community help boards - packing and shipping. These people are experienced in post office goof ups, and more. If you are not a part of ebay, it is free to join. No, you don't have to bid on anything just to be able to post.

First, I hope the package was insured, and not just tracked. If insured and lost, you can file a claim with the post office. Many times the post office will find it quick after filing the claim. If not, at least you get your money back minus the shipping cost. I know there is a way to file for lost package. It has been awhile since I sold or bought anything on ebay.

Go to ebay fourm, and ask. Also, go to the post office website and nose around. Sometimes the post office employees are not 100% up to date on their policies. You can find out when and how to file for a lost package, and or insurance claim if insured.

Hopefully it will arrive safe and sound soon. Just in case, look in unexpected places. When I did read the ebay forums, I read about a case where the people thought the package was lost in the mail, but found it in the shrubs by the fence. Go figure. May have been someone playing a prank.

Good luck.

Unless you have the experience I did back in August. A book I ordered for a class I was taking was shipped by UPS. When the package reached my area it was transferred to the USPS. The next day it was reported as "out for deivery" and the following day it was sent to the forwarding address on file. I've lived at my current address for 15 years. The post office could not explain why my package was forwarded somewhere else. And there was never another update.

Well if you have a mailbox out by the road, you could leave a note in it for your carrier. If you can alert the carrier to the issue you are probably going to have the best chance of having a successful resolution. Be nice to them though most likely they would like to see nothing more than for you to get your package in a timely manner and will know who to talk to at the PO to get something done.
