only if that were true, but remember the Keystone pipeline? And the Royal Saudi connection?
America is guaranteed oil due to their resource security agenda.

and an invasion of Venezuala wouldn't be off the table in the most dire of situations, especially if they were in a major widescale war, it would be a key target I believe.

This is a horrible thing we are witnessing IMO.
WTF have the Greek people done to deserve this?
It is not their fault but as usual their governments fault.
The Greeks are some of the most friendly hospitable people ever.
I hate the way Greece is being made to be the country that breaks the system.
Its not fair,and its BS.
It is not the fault of the Greeks.

Not true. Tax evasion in Greece is not a crime, its the customary way of doing things. Is why many houses leave some unfinished bricks, mortar and rebar at the top of the house, so they can declare it as unfinished and pay a lot less tax on it. Its just a national pastime there to find ways to not pay.

The Greek people voted for the governments they have had, and those governments did not take care of this when it was less of a problem, so it was just put off for later. And the Greek people do not want to have to deal with the consequences of it either.

Its certainly not like the Greeks have had no say in their government or its policies.

Why do we have a democracy instead of an outright Anarchy system, where each man rules with conscience and without any intermediaries?

We do so because we mankind believed that we are far from being perfect mortals, and living in societies where co-existance based upon common shared values to peacefully progress and evolve, democratic institutions of elected councils of gov are the way for the present moment, and the rest take instructions from such leaders, supposedly embued with conscience and consensus rather than monarchiac doctrines.

What's happening in Greece is one of the flaws in such system, for if the leaders are corrupt and self servicing, doom awaits as proven to the Greek people.

And with the OP's report, it only goes to show what happens when such leaders choose to remain within the EU. Dealing with worldwide sanctioned state than help from the parent EU, whom by such acts had only proven abandonment of the Greek Sovereign People, and fed to dogs. It is disgusting to watch over such indignity to our fellow human race.

Better for our greek human brothers and sisters to say the hell with debts and strike out on their own as a sovereign indepent state within our civilised world...

The bankers are punishing the people of Greece. The message being that if you dont accept the looting of your nation and accept our terms, "no one will do business with you" and you'll be left to starve.

Well, the people of Iceland told the bankers to go f themselves and theyre in a much better position.

Italy's next.

All of the nations that no longer want to be slaves to the bankers should band together and start their own conglomerate with Ron Paul as the President.

Compare apples to oranges much?

Are you ignorant of your surroundings much?

Once the fiat USD is hyperinflated away after major bank failers, due to commitments the FDIC must insure deposits by law, oil transports will halt to america or paid in full by gold and silver.

so no, this is apples to apples

Lol! You have no concept of size my friend... Yes these are apples and oranges... Srsly do some reading... It's great for the mind... Helps it to stop assuming so much

Is that an argument?
How can you keep replying saying it's apples and oranges without ever explaining why?

no concept of size? Look at the entire EU, check that out for size
It's not only greece, look at Italy, there are other EU countries in danger too as their debt is higher to their GDP
And they all just lost their sovereignty under one currency, that means a single point of failure of a MASSIVE body!

I'm wondering if it's you that has no concept of size. Forget arguing without debating or being incorrect, anyone can be incorrect but your post is just plain rude

Is it me or is it always the rude ones that are the most often the most incorrect?

iran's not my enemy. they haven't done anything to me. no one in greece owes me money.

and i presume greece and iran have nothing against each other. i don't see why this is a big issue.

are the people in greece supposed to pay for what crooks in their government conspired to do with european banks.

this is just a bank takeover of another country.

I'm saying there is no way you can compare Greece to the US. For one, it has incredibly limited natural resources...

Here's just one article on the differences... www.investmentu.com...

Sorry to be rude.. but at some point I lose my tolerance for automatons...

Interesting, Greece has the Aspropyrgos Refinery & the Corinth Refinery and two other ones, Iran on the other hand has no refineries.

With sanctions no Iran going crazy this will probably piss Obama off.

"They are really making no secret when you speak to them and say they are surviving on Iranian stuff because others will simply not sell to them in the current environment," one trader in the Mediterranean said.

This will perhaps change shortly i'm positive about it.

In the end only the Greek people will suffer because of it.

Interesting times ahead

Green isn't "turning" to Iranian oil. It already gets Iranian oil.
What a sensationalist headline.

The issue is that other supplies are drying up, and one supplier, Iran, is being hit by sanctions.
So Iran isn't going to start cutting off it's trade links at such a time, therefore Greece will still maintain it's supply of oil.

There is nothing more to it then that though.

You can go a little deeper into it though, because Greece has vast untapped oil and gas reserves, as well as other minerals, for example I think 2/3 of the known rare earth mineral types can be found in Greece.
There's some very VERY rare minerals near the islets of Imia and other Aegean islands.
There's large uranium deposits as well as gold and other metals.

Why hasn't it been exploited? For the same reasons Greece is in the economic mess it is in.
Poor management of the economy and government, socalist near-soviet economic policies.
Things are going to change though. There's no other choice.

The point I'm making with this? While they might be limiting supply to Greece, they will want something in return to restore it. These natural resources will come in to play. We probably wont hear about it though because it will all be done without any fanfare.

But I like how you try and imply that Greece will use it's refineries to help Iran profit while the rest of the West imposes sanctions.
Nice imagination.

Everybody knows the same countries in trouble in the summer of 2008 are still in trouble..Especially USA the only thing propping up the USD is OPEC.

As for Venezuela ,,,,US just wont buy their oil. That little dictator has a choice. Be rich and play the game or be sanctioned by the US....simple politics there.

Mostly what everybody forgets is USA is in big trouble and the EU trouble has only made the USD shinier
Still in trouble here and its only a matter of when

Yes, when you don't have oil reserves the world becomes a mercenary place indeed...
