I have always enjoyed hearing and reading about ghost stories. It is something that fascinates me, because I believe that we all have souls, whether it be some sort of physical energy, or something supernatural altogether. Also, I tend to disagree with this article in that ghosts/spirits can not be proven through science and feel like it was only a matter of time before it was possibly linked. Anyway, here are some excerpts from the original article, and I find it highly interesting and thought provoking.

A recent Google search turned up nearly 8 million results suggesting a link between ghosts and Einstein's work covering the conservation of energy. This assertion is repeated by many top experts in the field. For example, ghost researcher John Kachuba, in his book "Ghosthunters" (2007, New Page Books), writes, "Einstein proved that all the energy of the universe is constant and that it can neither be created nor destroyed. ... So what happens to that energy when we die? If it cannot be destroyed, it must then, according to Dr. Einstein, be transformed into another form of energy. What is that new energy? ... Could we call that new creation a ghost?"

This idea shows up — and is presented as evidence for ghosts — on virtually all ghost-themed websites as well. For example, a group called Tri County Paranormal states, "Albert Einstein said that energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change from one form to another. When we are alive, we have electrical energy in our bodies. ... What happens to the electricity that was in our body, causing our heart to beat and making our breathing possible? There is no easy answer to that."

Many ghost hunters say they can detect the electric fields created by ghosts. And while it's true that the metabolic processes of humans and other organisms actually do generate very low-level electrical currents, these are no longer generated once the organism dies. Because the source of the energy stops, the electrical current stops — just as a light bulb turns off when you switch off the electricity running to it. Most of the "energy" that any dead person leaves behind takes years to re-enter the environment in the form of food; the rest dissipates shortly after death, and is not in a form that can be detected years later with popular ghost-hunting devices like electromagnetic field (EMF) detectors. Ghost hunters who repeat the claim that Einstein's theories provide a sound basis for ghosts reveal less about ghosts than they do about their poor understanding of basic science. Ghosts may indeed exist, but neither Einstein nor his laws of physics suggests that ghosts are real.

Also, I was pondering the idea that perhaps ghosts are just a recording of a specific moment in time, perhaps a tragedy, a routine, or something of that nature. It would be interesting to hear what others have to say about this phenomena.

One quick note and question - IF ghosts do exist, and they are natural energy, then could it be that the orbs that have been seen in the sky (supposedly) are not actually UFO's, but actually spirits in the form of energy and manifested into true form?

I have seen 3 spirits in my life back in my country. One was a witch (Runs around at night after 12 am and make a lot of noises bec of a chain on her feet). Second was like the movie (the exorcism of Emily rose), third was when i woke up at night to drink water and went into my balcony, i saw a woman who was burned alive, sitting on a bathroom top, I live in US now, but back in my country bathroom are located outside, and there is no way someone can climb that and sit there. When I was scanning the streets i saw her in black clothes, black face. I starred at her, and than BAM she turns her face right on me, her eyes were pointed towards me (yellowish color), I ran as fast as i can and told my mom. Next day everyone confirmed that's the spirit of the woman, who was buried alive by her husband.

Well to answer your question, After you die, your soul comes out. Either you move on to the next stage of life, or you roam around Earth in order to find peace. I believe when someone kills you or die bec of someone, your spirit is not happy so it will come to haunt that person back on earth until it RIP. After it has been at peace it moves on to the next stage of the planet, In Hinduism its called Bhuvarloka meaning planet of Ghost. So that's the next planet we arrive at after we die, if you need more info about planets and next life, msg me. Take care

I have a theory on ghosts....I think that they are in another dimension or maybe a parallel universe, and every now and then, the line between our reality and theirs gets blurred, and this is when we see them. Parallel universes could also explain doppelgangers.

I've wondered about the orbs myself. Cemetary lights/orbs have been seen way back into history, and it's interesting to wonder if there is a connection to the UFO phenomena. I've spoken to some very credible non-spiritual/religious type people who have had experiences with low-to-the-ground orbs/lights and were seen by multiple witnesses.

As far as other paranormal phenomena goes, I personally believe science will end up explaining and debunking a lot of it sometime or another in the future. Noone knows what is really going on, but many people will tell you adamantly that they do, and that 'spirits'/'souls' are behind it, and they often use mediums and 'sensitives' to try and validate their beliefs, and that's where I disconnect and get skeptical. Of course, they may be right, but I'd personally rather look into alternate explanations, such as scientific theories and ideas.

I understand the intuitive appeal of this argument to people who want a scientific explanation for ghosts, the problem is that if it's true of humans, wouldn't it be true of anything that stores and uses energy? My laptop has energy, but if I hit it with a hammer it breaks and stops working. It doesn't make a ghost of a laptop and it doesn't violate conservation of energy, it just renders the energy unusable in its current form. I could take the battery out and put it in another device, and the energy could be recovered. Likewise, if a person dies and their body decomposes, that process consists of bacteria and insects consuming the energy left over in the human. If the law of conservation of energy necessitates that ghosts be created when a person dies, it would also necessitate that ghosts be created whenever anything that stores and uses energy stops working. Since no one wants to commit to believing in the ghosts of cell phones or calculators, the intuitive appeal of the argument in question ought to quickly fade.

This stuff goes beyond Einstien. Look into Bell's Theorem and Quantum Mechanics.

I agree because what the soul (which is what Ghosts are comprised of) are simply our consciousness in an biological electromagnetic form and existing in the electromagnetic frequency spectrum.

This would also explain why ghosts are able to transcend the physical world of ours by travelling through walls of structures for example.

Simply because they are comprised of electro magnetic energy comprised of electrons similar to that of a man made radio wave.

Electrons are capable of storing not only charge but also data. This has recently been discovered.

This would explain how our soul can exist in an electromagnetic state comprised of energy and data.

This is why the ghosts can be detected by EMF detectors and further proof is the ability of ghosts to imprint their voices or thoughts upon electronic recording devices in the form of EVPs.

When the soul inhabits the body our body also exudes an electromagnetic field around it.
Look at the experimental forms of Photography that have captured this energy or auras ...around leaves and plants as well.

In fact during our recent power outage I was using my weather radio and when I placed my hand within 8 inches of the radio the reception became clearer and the tuning LED illuminated brightly.

Why? because my body's magnetic field was touching that of the radio's antenna electro magnetic field and using my body as an extended antenna.

When I withdrew my hand again the signal and clarity of the signal diminished and became more static once again.

I also tested this with a metal flashlight since it being metal is a conductor...the same thing occurred only I could now insert the flashlight into the radio's field instead of my hand.

But as long as I was touching the conductive metal of the flashlight the reception once again improved and illuminated the little tuning LED.

So...when I hear/read about how science hasn't yet proven any of this ....it's funny because the proof has been out there for decades now.

It's really the masses failure to acknowledge it all...because it is something that they simply cannot comprehend due to lack of understanding.

Peace

Good post. Have you ever read the book, How the Hippies Saved Physics ?

It talks about the physicists who looked at the connections between consciousness and QM starting in the mid70's at Berkley. Sadly, it's kind of the lost history of that period of physics.

well done! good find.

I think that is very interesting, the issue with energy. It can not be destroyed upon death and therefore provides a possible explaination of ghosts?

Dr Michal Persinger at Laurentian University has done some work that considers the possibility that consciousness may survive by becoming part of the geomagnetic field surounding the planet. Here is a lecture he gives on the possibility of using technology to allow for telepathy:

well done, this is the best info I have read that could explain various phenomena.

I have been obsessed with ghosts because of a variety of experiences and for the most part, now I write it off that I don't believe that they are real. I reasoned that I 'hallucinated' in order to process things. But, I was never satisfied with that.
because that is not the truth and deep down I was not satisfied.

I believe ghosts are real and hopefully one day, we will have a scientific explanation.

wish I could flag it again!!

If being a ghost suggests survival of consciousness, then to understand if such a thing is possible, you need to know what consciousness is. I would suggest you look to consciousness studies for your answers.

Hello Slider1991

Firstly Thank you for the positive energy.

Have you ever read the book, How the Hippies Saved Physics ?

In all honesty I have not. I'll have to look for it and give it a read via a library search.

But I can relate as I did grow up as a child/teen of academic parents during the Vietnam War and the Peace movement later studying physics in Electrical Engineering and more specifically Integrated Circuit design.

Which is all about semi conductor physics electromagnetic fields etc....very eye opening how much we don't know about what we cannot readily see in the world around us.

But the Hippies whom were mainly concentrated on college campuses were delving into the Buddhists principles of our existence which seques into age old explanations of the human consciousness and creation. As well as the afterlife.

Because our system of control in the Western cultures is entirely fear based it contradicts that of the eastern philosophies which look at Ghosts and the after life in general as being completely natural and merely the opposing polarity or flipside of our existence here on this plane of existence.

I could on about this but I will spare everyone from posting another Novella to read.

Peace

If we can assume that a soul and a ghost are the same thing, then I like this theory to prove an "essence" of sorts. Where it goes after it leaves the body is a whole 'nuther story!

The human soul weighs 1/3,000th of an ounce! That’s the astonishing claim of East German researchers who recently weighed more than 200 terminally ill patients just before, and immediately after, their deaths. In each case the weight loss was exactly the same–1/3,000th of an ounce. The inescapable conclusion is that we have now confirmed the existence of the human soul and determined its weight,” Dr. Becker Mertens of Dresden said in a letter printed in the German science journal Horizon

That's quite the jump isn't it? Sorry, but in my opinion, that's not proof of anything.

Beg to differ. It's something unexplainable of a tangible matter. Something is not equal to "nothing" . Therefore.....it's SOMETHING
Just because you can't see something doesn't make it non existant.
