Makes me wonder how long it will take for the scars to heal from the coming war. Times are reminiscent of those in pre war France and war is on the
horizon! Much of the world is gearing to meet what they see as an imminent threat (us)!
We may well see war like this again, and even upon our shores! China and Russia have both vowed to openly defend Iran which would without question
mean WWIII!
At this point any alliance whose purpose is not the intention to wage war is senseless and useless. A. Hitler

Very cool pics, I like the mist swamp looking one. But most of those scars are being covered up by nature....And this was in ww1 with there not very
advanced in blowing stuff up tech...If the # ever does actually hit the fan and ww3 breaks out, what with nukes and all kinds of weapons, we can
expect the scars to make the battlefield and the earth in general look like something you would see in pictures from NASA of Mars.
Or at least what they supposedly tell and show you what Mars looks like.
Strange, the pictures are beautiful and so peaceful looking, it's hard to imagine the horrors that took place there.
Makes me think of this song:
Lyrics:
Well, how do you do, Private William McBride,
Do you mind if I sit down here by your graveside?
And rest for awhile in the warm summer sun,
I've been walking all day, and I'm nearly done.
And I see by your gravestone you were only 19
When you joined the glorious fallen in 1916,
Well, I hope you died quick and I hope you died clean
Or, Willie McBride, was it slow and obscene?
Did they Beat the drum slowly, did the play the pipes lowly?
Did the rifles fir o'er you as they lowered you down?
Did the bugles sound The Last Post in chorus?
Did the pipes play the Flowers of the Forest?
And did you leave a wife or a sweetheart behind
In some loyal heart is your memory enshrined?
And, though you died back in 1916,
To that loyal heart are you forever 19?
Or are you a stranger without even a name,
Forever enshrined behind some glass pane,
In an old photograph, torn and tattered and stained,
And fading to yellow in a brown leather frame?
The sun's shining down on these green fields of France;
The warm wind blows gently, and the red poppies dance.
The trenches have vanished long under the plow;
No gas and no barbed wire, no guns firing now.
But here in this graveyard that's still No Man's Land
The countless white crosses in mute witness stand
To man's blind indifference to his fellow man.
And a whole generation who were butchered and damned.
And I can't help but wonder, no Willie McBride,
Do all those who lie here know why they died?
Did you really believe them when they told you "The Cause?"
Did you really believe that this war would end wars?
Well the suffering, the sorrow, the glory, the shame
The killing, the dying, it was all done in vain,
For Willie McBride, it all happened again,
And again, and again, and again, and again.
Thanks for opening the thread up ...
I'm glad the OP had the opportunity to add some further content to the opening post as this thread could prove useful in some manner somewhere along
the line.
Yes ,I recently watched the movie Beneath Hill 60,its a true story of Australian soldiers who dug beneath German lines and set off a massive blast, all
the time they were digging the germans were listening they had to be so quiet and in the end they faked an attack so the germans filled thier trenches
before the blast
Lol ,i do but i wont do it again,I was in a hurry, had to be somewhere and figured the pics would speak for themselves, its pretty humbling to think
what those men went through while the scars were being made around them
