The Markets are Sure funny

MarketWatch

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — The number of Americans who filed new applications for unemployment benefits fell to the lowest level in seven months, according to government data released Thursday showing slowly improving conditions in the labor market.

Though the number of job openings is up 38% since the end of the recession, there are still four job seekers for every open position, Labor Department data released Tuesday showed.

This is bad news not good news, if you go to Mainstreet you will see a different side to the story.
the stocks are starting to look a like a bunch of a joke.

U.S. stocks saw early gains after Wednesday’s Italy-inspired pounding, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average

I guess the reason that the Jobless claims fall is its because they stopped looking for a job?

These initial numbers are ALWAYS revised upwards later, when no one is paying attention.

As people exhaust their unemployment checks, they fall off the counted numbers of jobless. If I remember correctly the federal extensions have dried up for most people. The only thing this shows is that there are less people on unemployment benefits. I would imagine that layoff's are starting to drop off, as companies have already cut to the bare minimum as it is. Another consideration is companies do hire seasonal help during this period of time. I would imagine that every year around this time unemployment improves slightly, but is in no way indicative of a rebounding economy.

Could it just be seasonal hiring for the upcoming holiday shopping season?

That's what I was thinking.

People have just given up looking, doesn't mean things are getting better.
