Define patriot. If a patriot is someone loving his own country, having an emotional binding to his home country, then I don't see a difference between someone like Obama, Bush(s), Clinton and so on and of course every other ruler of every other country in the world. Otherwise the definition of patriotism wouldn't make sense, right?

Between the US president and Qadaffi who is the patriot? Between the ALL-lies and Hitler who is the patriot? If Hitler, Qadaffi and Hussein all were patriots because according to your definition the head of state defines patriotism, then what right did anyone have to raise a hand against them? And if they were not patriots because of there actions, then that same rule applies to the US president.

Of course they were patriots, every single one of them - the US presidents are not entiteld to be the only patriotic rulers in the world. You know, there are other countries in the world and whose citizens love their countries, too..

An action by the ruler of a country is, as long as it isn't illegal under the countries law, per se an action of his country subjected to the rest of the world. If Obama sneezes, the US have an cold.. Metaphorically, but in a real sense for the other rulers.
