On Saturday, October 29th, the skulls visited Serpent Mound in Ohio. I was able to make the journey there to see these skulls first hand. I also took my children, as I knew this was going to be a "Once in a lifetime" opportunity. There were people from all over, of all ages that attended the ceremony.

I got a few pictures that I thought I would share with ATS. These were taken with my droid cell phone, so the quality is not the best. Enjoy!

This man is an owner of one of the skulls.

The bowl and rod in her hands is actually an instrument she is playing.

I sat behind these guys and the vibrations coming from these were interesting to say the least. Anyone know what these instruments are called?

These are all items that they set up on a little altar. I do not know the significance of any of these items.

These are those items set up on their little drum/altar.

I started videotaping after I took these pictures. However, I am unable to upload them to ATS. Here is a Youtube video from another attendee.

Hmmm...these people don't look mesoamerican...looks like a bunch of hippy weirdos to me.

I like the pictures, though...did you have a watercolor or oil paint filter activated or something? Anyhow, give us some more of your thoughts or breakdown on the ceremony.

So you're telling me that these people actually have one of the crystal skulls? These people look like they are stuck in the 90's. I don't get any funny feelings from this except that I'm pretty sure they got their "crystal skull" at a flea market.

That's what I wonder.

Why do individuals own these crystal skulls? If they're THAT important shouldn't they be kept safe, locked up and displayed in museums for all to see?

I'm sure they weren't made to be kept in a box in the closet belonging to one person?

Shouldn't they be back with the Mayans?

I just don't know.

These people belonged to some newage group that was holding a meeting of some sort. They were dedicating their skulls to the ceremony. They were using different tones and vibrations to "awaken" them.

The actual ceremony took place around the sacred tree by the Serpent Mound. I didn't get pictures of them, I got video. There were plenty of Natives there. See the video.

I am not one who really rides the 2012 bus or even the newage movement. I just thought it would be really neat to be part of history. Many people there, however, were very passionate about their belief in the Mayan culture.

I always have to laugh when people claim Mayan heritage. The Mayas completely dissapeared as a culture and as a people.

What you have are decendants of Aztecs and many other Mexican/middle American tribes. No doubt there was intermingling and that there are people with mayan blood, but to claim to be a "mayan elder" etc. ist nothing but an absurd claim that doesn't fit into the history of this culture and people.

Not only that, but the serpent mound in Ohio was made by a completely different culture, where they see a connection, I have no idea. Sounds like a bunch of uneducated hippies to me.

Yes, individuals own these skulls. They are traveling with a group of Mayan elders.

I understand what you are saying, but if you were lucky enough to own one of these, would you be willing to just hand it over?

Looks like a cool ceremony.
The guy in the first picture looks exactly like Suggs from the 80s band "Madness!"
The resemblance is uncanny.

Do you know how he got to be the owner of the skull?

thanks for the pics !
i live within an hour of the mound, if I would have heard about that i would have gone just out of curiosity.
I do know there are alot of 'hippie' type gatherings there, such as on the solstices, etc.
But one has to wonder, are those skulls real? How did those people obtain them?
How many skulls were there?

definitely didgeridoos. An aboriginal instrument from Australia. Pretty great "vibes" and for sure help to create a tranced environment.

thanks for the pics! I was wondering what was going on there.

Psst! Youtube linky no worky. Pity, I would have liked to have seen it, cool photo's though. I can see why they don't have the skulls in a museum, people steal from musuems.
Personally I'd rather see a really good high-res photo cos I'm the clumsy kind and a 3000 year old ming vase or crystal skull in my hand might not be the best idea someone had...

Cool post OP, thanks for sharing. They DO NOT look like a bunch of old hippies either!

Like a previous poster noted, looks to me like a didgeridoo and also what appears to my unexpert eyes to be an Irish drum whose name I couldn't spell, remember or pronounce. I think it begins with a B though. You hold it in one hand and with fingers or a special stick apply the sound. Cool!

I was watching some docu I long forgot the title of but absorbed nonetheless, and they reckoned Indiana Jones wasn't too far from the mark with his powerful, glowing crystal skulls and Ark of the Covenant. Now if they could just make some kind of magical "world population wake up and unite" device with them, that would be truly awesome and I am not being sarcastic! They don't even need to glow either, as long as the effect is unanimous.

Rest assured they are kept safe! That is from anyone who would be able and willing to prove that they were made in modern times.

You are thinking of a Bodhran. An Irish frame (or hoop) drum.
But hoop drums are relatively global. The hoop drums are the only legit American instrument in the photos.
The others are:
A Tibetan Singing Bowl or Rin gong (Asian)
A couple didgeridoos (Australian)
A djembe (African)

And there you have it! You see more than one of the 'original' skulls are known to have been broken - at least one was shattered into small pieces when dropped.

There are not all original, and the people are not all original and the whole thing is just a sham, but probably good fun if you are into that sort of thing
and a little fun never hurts.

Why would they bring these to the Serpent Mound in Ohio?

Last I checked the Serpent Mound in Ohio had nothing to do with Mayans or Crystal Skulls (not that new-age crystal skulls have anything to do with Mayans either for that matter).

Ah well I'm sure it was an interesting ceremony, no harm in a little new-ageism. Even if crystal skulls are bunk I suppose if more people were like this the world wouldn't be such a mess.

It looks like you were very close to the skull on the ground. Was there no security? I thought these skulls were pretty valuable?

Also, aren't there supposed to be intricate etchings in the skull, or magnetics, or something that could contain information? I would love to get an up close look at one!!

I actually got to get close up and touch that particular skull. No, there was no security. Just a bunch of like minded people enjoying an opportunity that presented itself. Unity. A powerful force.

As far as why they stopped at Serpent Mound... They said that they were charging the skulls so that they could use them. Each stop, from what I understood, was suppose to open some sort of portal or door. They were going to bring "light" to the world.

There is also a Mayan collective going to visit and perform ceremonies at each Lunar Eclipse around the world between now and 12-21-12. I think it started over a year ago, maybe even 2? I also think the skulls are supposed to be present at the last ceremony, so perhaps they are charging the skulls at several nodes and then bringing them to the last eclipse?
