The ignore button will not be returning.

It was initiated during a time of transition and growth at ATS, long ago, when we were still coming to terms with policies on dealing with disruptive members while maintaining a high standard of free expression. The original intent of the ignore feature was not to negate comments you didn't like, but to negate users who were purposefully disruptive.

Now that we have long-standing policies regarding manners and decorum, and:
-- staff tools to rapidly post-ban members
-- staff tools to rapidly remove offending posts
-- tools for members to alert staff to offending posts/threads
... there is simply no need for an ignore feature.

Not trying to be an ass, but ---> If you want such a feature simply to remove from view opinions in which you disagree, then perhaps a free-expression environment such as ATS is not for you, and you need to locate a discussion venue that doesn't tolerate a wide range of opinion. (Just sayin')

Availing yourself to a variety of opinion and viewpoints is a fundamental aspect of ATS. An ability to ignore specific opinions is opposed to the core ideal of denying ignorance.

What's really funny is the last time I did that prank, some guy went apecrap, even when I explained several times that it was a joke and apologised, but he would ignore me. Then he posted a thread that was basically a subtle way of questioning my mental state, and I was very amused to see that a couple of months later he was explaining to someone else in another thread that it was important to have a sense of humor when dealing with people online.

I found that out pronto. Did edit my post to show I fell for the joke. TY for being nice though

I guess ATS will continue to take the downward spiral.

I left for about a year when I kept getting threatening U2Us from a member daring me to tell him where I lived so he could come and teach me a lesson. All I'd done was disagree with him in a mature manner, but he was too psycho to simply let it go. I forwarded the messages to mods, but never got any response, so I had no choice except to stay away from here. Once returning, I was pleased to see that things were remaining civil, but now things appear to be ramping up again.

Seams like you'r talk about this acount and that many agree with you, that just sucks and makes me wonder if I should leave.

This is my first and only acount ever on ATS, I joined ATS 17. July 2011.

How could you have tried to ignore me for years? Is moderaters haters here too?


I'm not trying to offend or hurt anyone in any ways and I'm sorry If my posts makes you sleepy.

If I could I would have deleted atleast a few maybe ten of the threads Ive posted in the past soon after posting them for various reasons but thats not an option.
