I was driving home from work in Louisville,KY today and I saw a military jet fly overhead.
We don't see many here, accept during our airshow.
I noticed many people looking at it also, looking abit confused.
It came from the north, flying south.
As I drove home,I saw it again, circling the airport, where the nation guard is based also.
It was a long, single thruster,or jet,big wings close to the front of the craft and small ones to the back.
There was a long distance between these wings.I mean long, like a jet liner. But smaller and definitely military.
I have seen many jets, but never this one.
A little bigger than a F-18 but a lot longer.
Could have been showing off for someone at the N.G. base.
Anyone seen or heard of this one?
I have searched through a lot of pics of military aircraft, and didn't find any that matched it.

It could be nothing more than a EAA aircraft.

They construct all sorts of cool experimental aircraft.

And they rarely make it to the commercial stage.

It was sort of like this craft.....

But two to four times the distance between the tail "wings" and the main.
And the wings were smaller.
It was loud as it cruised.
It was a military jet, thats for sure.

Thats what I was gonna post. Beechcraft Starship.

Very rare, only a few of them left.

I see one almost once or twice a month and every time I stare; it flies in and out of KRNO occasionally.

Sorry, dude,a single fuselage, single jet, maybe 20 or so feet between the tail section and the main wings.
The wings looked kind of weird on the craft, like small ones from a f-18.
I have been around alot of airforce bases ,been to many air shows.
Never saw this one.
It came full blast from the north of Louisville, then a few minutes later,I saw it doing a slow sweep/circle around the airport.

It was,say,long and skinny.
Take a 747,put fighter wings on it and shrink it.
Give it one big jet out the back.

Close to the F-104,but the main wings were closer to the front. By a long ways.

Actually, maybe that is what it was!

The drawing looks a lot like the old SU-25 Frogfoot.

It could carry a crap load of ordinace, just like the A-10 Warthog.

It wasn't small either.

I'm sure since the fall of the USSR, that we have gotten our hands on a few of those.

No,it wasn't small,it was pretty big, comparing to a F-18.
But now that I have looked at the SU-25 frogfoot, the wings were much smaller and swoped back.

Check out vids of the SU25...they're a little bigger (porkier) than the F18. The F18 is sleek, while the SU25 is a workhorse.

Then again, maybe you saw one of the new F-35's?

ETA: Now I'm curious...I'm a avaition buff.

Of,course you don't know,I live 30 miles from Fort Knox,so who knows.
And they are suppose to be holding drills tomorrow, right?

Take the image of the F-16,but elongate the tail section by 2 or 3 times.
That is what I saw and it was fast.

Maybe a Starship?

www.bobscherer.com...

Cool planes, but they don't make 'em anymore.

Don't know why a Air Force jet would be using Godman Army Airfield. Maybe a emergency landing?

Did plenty of time at Knox back in the day.

But from your description...I'm at a loss. Other than a F-16 hybrid...and there are a few around, I think NASA has them now.

More like a long F-16.
Seems to be alot of strange crafts flying around here lately I have never seen before.
