Might I just add, even though there is celebration ect, in Baghdad, the war is not over. There's still many tasks to be accomplished. I enjoy seeing this people happy and celebrating after being compressed for so many years by a brutal regime. If feels good to make other people feel good and free, everyone deserves this feeling the Iraqi people are currently experiencing

You are going too far.

France is happy with the people liberated from Saddam.

France *only* questioned the motivation to go into war.

I hope you remember no WMDs was found still.

Besides, yeah, they are happy, and the should be, but if you heard the whole interview to most of them, you will find that they stated:

'We are happy about Saddam no longer being in power, but we are uncertain of which movement will take USA after this: replacing a dictatorship with another military dictatorship or *really* coming with freedom'.

I'm expectant as well.

Its a shame the French and others put greed over human rights. They had a chance to do something wonderful, but had no courage.

Midnight Mutilator, you don't know how you right !

Today, on the TV news, I saw many frenchies policy makers. And believe me, THEY WERE NOT LOOKING VERY HAPPY !

They don't know what they can say now the Irakis are free from Saddam and are showing that they are the most happy peoples on earth.

The frenchies are " dans la merde " !

But don't worry, I'm sure they'll find a way to tell that they helped Irak to be free from Saddam.

Today is a great day MM. For the Irakis and the coalition nations.

But for some nations ( France, Germany and Belgium ), it's a little bit different.....

The soldiers that are there now aren't there to look for WMD's. As things continue to come under better control there will be plenty of time to search and locate the weapons that he has.

It definitely was nice to see people cheering and dancing and dragging the statue around the streets of Baghdad. Taking that statue down was very symbolic and made the Iraqi's feel more free and our troops I'm sure got a psychological boost that I'm sure they could have all used. I think the way these Iraqi's were acting sums it all up!

As for France, .......

Agreed. It's only luck that the USA troops were quick enough to replace the USA flag they put first on Saddam statue with an Iraqi flag. They saw the people getting bitter. Again, I'm as expectant to see what is USA going to do next with their country as they themselves.

I was really looking forward to the Iraqi Information Minister coming out on stage and saying the Iraqis pronounced victory over the Americans.

He didnt show up for work, so guess it really is over.

Someone working for a public relations firm said they would hire this guy in a second though. He said if this guy could make these statements on TV with a straight face, he could sell just about anything!

Those were very strong images that have been shown today. I havent seen such powerful imagery in over 10 years. However I dont think that they will change the minds of people living in Europe. However Al - Jazeer did show the statue falling and the people celebrating, I am sure alot of people in the arab world were stunned.

I feel very happy for the Iraqi people!

But ... Bush already said he had prrof of Saddam's WMD's ... Soooo ... Why are we searching for them? If we know he had them, then that mean's we'd know where they were already ... It's possible that Saddam does have WMD's, but I don't think we really do know for sure ... If we did, we wouldn't have to look for the proof that we told the UN we already had prior to the war ...

saddam had his flunkies declare in 1998 that all remaining wmd in their possession had been destroyed.

no proof was ever provided. amazingly - not so amazing if this were expected - no written records of any kind
were created to direct u.n. weapons inspectors to the locations to verify this stupendous claim, especially
when his compliance would have contributed to the lifting of the economic sanctions that had been crippling
his ability to build wmd ! wierd, eh ?

the question now is do you believe saddam when he says all wmd, including precursors, manufactoring and production facilites, have been destroyed ? do you trust him ? ? ?

just to entertain the absurdity further, if he destroyed all his wmd, why did the coalition forces find gas masks among the surrendering and dead iraqi troops ?

there are many such obvious questions i could pose to stretch a person's credulity to assinine lengths, but the fictions you hold dear must serve some good purpose, right ?

I bloody hope so! If not then our brothers who bled and died for those arabs died in vain. I hope they are stunned to the point they forget were they stand.

History has been written by the victor, remember saddam was put in power by the USA and he will be removed by the USA. Who will the USA replace him with waits to be seen.

syzygy,

Even though he may have lied when he said they were gone, Bush still said he KNEW for a fact that Saddam has them still. If we KNOW Saddam still has them and we actually have proof Saddam has them, then that mean's we would have to know where Saddam is hiding them ... That would mean we wouldn't have to be looking for them.

Look at the media ... Seem's like about 6 time's already they said the coalition may have finally found the proof that Saddam has chemical weapon's ... Why they so exited over it when they announce it? Bush did say HE already know's for a fact and had evidence that Saddam does have them ... Make's no logical sense. HE TOLD THE UN the reason we were going to war was because Saddam had WMD's. Ok ... The UN say's show us proof. Bush say's, don't you worry, I have proof, but I can't show it cuz of security reason's ... Don't want Saddam moving them on us!

Alrighty ... Well, where's that proof? The regime is dead now, so why doesn't Bush just come forward with the info he had prior to the war? Why is the coalition STILL scrambling to locate the very proof tha Bush said he already had? I mean ... They're getting exited over pesticide cansiter's ... I don't think Bush did have proof, he's just looking for it like crazy.

Also, why do we have gas mask's in almost every war we goto now-a-day's? Gas mask's are standard issue in our military, same with almost every military that has fooled around with chemical weapon's. Obviously the Iraqi military has tested chemical weopon's, know's their effect's, and so ... made gas mask's standard issue to protect against possible chemical attack's, just like we have done.
