I was reading The Physics of Immortality again and the 3rd time is just as good as the 1st two times I read it. He has some interesting concepts. Basically he accepts the Many Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics therefore he treats the wave function as a real entity instead of just a mathematical abstraction that describes reality.

So the Wave Function of the Universe is God. The Wave Function of the Universe is the sum of all wave functions and we're gods or eigenstates of the wave function in a state of decoherence. We're evolving into a single entity, the Omega Point. The Omega Point will be all possible states in perfect harmony or in perfect superposition. Eventually this state begins to devolve, maybe because of a quantum fluctuation and this cycle repeats itself probably ad infinitum.

So the wave function evolves in a deterministic way towards the Omega Point but eigenstates become entangled in a random way and when they become entangled interference is hidden because of decoherence.

This is a simple concept and if MWI turns out to be true, it will be groundbreaking.

Interesting information. To go off topic for a sec there was an episode of Star TRek Voyager that dealty with the Omega particle. The borg viewed it as the pinnacle of perfection, yet so unstable it could destroy life as we know it.

Its interesting to see the real world and the science fiction world slowly coming together.

"So the Wave Function of the Universe is God."

Interestingly this is actually true for an entirely different reason; quantum mind theory.

According to Penrose and Hameroff self-collapsing wave-functions are minds. However as it turns out the wave-function of the universe is necessarily self-collapsing.

Therefore the Wave-function of the Universe is necessarily a Mind.

There's an Italian physicist by the name of Paola Zizzi who discovered something similar to this. She called it The Big Wow Theory. everything2.com...
