Chicago Board Of Trade made themselves look
like a roving band of monkeys throwing poo.
As for working at McDonald's,
I have seen plenty of aging seniors working beyond
their retirement yrs because
cost of living has gone up, but wages have gone down !
When seniors can not enjoy their retirement because of
gov't mismanagement it's a sad day in this country.
Should seniors enlist too ? ?
Seems that the speculators and money traders are not
content with sweat, they now want blood.

If they continue with the co.rruption of gov. there is no doubt
that there will be blood.

So if you have no job, you have zero dollars.
If you have a job at McDonald's you have at least minimum wage.

Math tells me that working anywhere gets you more than zero.

Maybe I'm just crazy.

Not always, no. If I were to go apply to the nearest place like mcdonalds, I would be driving an hour and a half each way, and after gas and meals, I would be making maybe 10 bucks a day, and that is IF I could grab a fulltime position, which rarely happens at places like this. Yeah if someone lives right down the road from a place like this, then it would make sense. For me, working 8 hours a day, driving 3 hours a day, if there is no traffic, to take home 10 bucks for 11+ hours is not even a logical option.

That is pretty infuriating. I could probably handle a little police violence, but THIS might get me to join a riot.

I dont understand, are you saying that food service employment is beneath you?

I have news, there is no shame in honest work. I would not hesitate to take a job in the service industry to provide for my own if it were all the work I was qualified to perform.

Regarding the fast food applications, that has been a staple for weeding out the slackers and undesirables in my profession for a long time.

Dropping a McD's application in the offenders extra value meal is short, blunt and unmistakably to the point.

You find the gesture rude do you? Good, I am sure that was the intended reaction.

Ok, so you are telling me that you would work a minimum wage, fast food job knowing full well you will have to apply for governmental assistance just to be able to get by?

Before you go spouting off on these people, ask yourself what would you do in their situation? Face it you could get laid off yourself, unless you are the boss of your own company. What if you couldn't get a McDonald's job because they told you that you were over qualified? Many people get turned down due to that excuse.

Here is the problem, and why those applications are so rude. Those fast food jobs will not support one person let alone a family. They are meant for high school and college students who are living with mommy and daddy. They are meant for someone who has to supplement another source of income.

I don't know of anyone who can make a living of off a McDonalds job or other minimum wage job unless they were living in poverty. That usually means living in bad areas, living in nasty apartments or houses that badly needs fixed, not having enough to eat or food stamps, and not having anything except the necessities. Is electric really a necessity?

Those jobs have such odd work hours with the requirement that you have to be available for when they want you to work that you basically can not find a secondary job. It will be extremely hard.

Many in the OWS crowd are already employed, but know their job can disappear as quick as everyone elses. They know there is something wrong, and taking a stand against it.

It is this lack of respect and stereotyping employers have towards people, as to why many can't find a job. Just because someone has been unemployed for so long, they are lazy. Just because they have bad credit either due to their own fault, large medical bills they can't pay, or an illegal foreclosure they are likely to steal from the company. Don't forget being over qualified.

If they find out you have unpaid medical bills, they will deem you to get sick too much. Of course they always favor the young over the middle age and older people.

Before you tell others to just go find a job who have been unemployed for a long period of time without a good excuse, employers will turn them down left and right in favor to someone who already has a job or only unemployed for a couple of weeks if that. I don't care how well qualified someone is.

Also, there are those who have no place to live or address. I don't care how many applications you give them, they will never find a job due to the lack of an address.

Remember jobs are disappearing left and right. Too many people, and not enough jobs. Over a million applications for 50,000 job openings? Ouch.

When people don't have money it will hit every type of business. Honestly, the only type of businesses I see increasing are second hand shops, Dollar Stores, Good will, St. Vincent DePaul's, and other stores that sell items cheap. Guess where my Christmas shopping has been so far?

It is not as simple as saying go find a job. Think before you speak.

Oh, I get it. OK, so you could stay home and do nothing, getting nothing (except what citizenry is forced to give you), and get more than what you would get with gainful employment! I tried to learn voodoo when I was in Jamaica several years ago, but I couldn't figure out the incantations. Looks like you've mastered it.

You earn what? 5 Dollars an hour at an American McD? How much is that in Euros, like 3,50 Euros? What kind of live can you have working at McD? Can you pay your rent, go to the doctor when you are sick?

Haven't you ever been told by an employer you are over qualified? You know McDonald's and other places like them will tell that to people who want and need a job. Why? They believe the more intelligent and skilled people will become board, ticked off, and leave as soon as they find something else. Now they can not get a job in the field they want or even get a minimum wage service job.

Exactly! You live life with no property rights or free will working that way, last time I checked, that was called being a slave.

Well if that just doesn't prove they want us all as serfs, I don't know what will. IMHO, McD's and the likes with their garbage food should be shut down, and that's my $.02.

The last laugh will be on them when some of them are hanging from a lamp posts.
History repeats itself.
Push people enough to the limit and it can get down right ugly.

Why wouldn't they get a littering citation or ticket?

1% immune to that too, I see.

Aye, and now someone will take a far off picture of the "litter" and claim how dirty and filthy these hippes are!

You get to keep your constitutionally protected right to property even when working in a low paying job. Free will is also available at no extra charge. I know, it's a radical thought. But hopefully this should put your mind at ease.

Likely, many of them have already applied there and are overqualified.

But this is the stereotype that's come up.

There's 4 applicants for every 1 position open. Why do people assume that the unemployed are lazy and do not understand that simple math dictates that we will have millions unemployed?

You think you have property rights? Try not paying property taxes and see how quickly you lose that "right".

Putting aside the fact that a job McDonalds will out a family on borderline poverty, the fact that those attacking the OWSers think even that fastfood and minimum wage jobs are readily available out there are completed cluess. This news story from Atlanta is an example:

McDonald's representatives would not confirm how many applications they received Tuesday, but said they knew the Candler Road store would be among the most popular.

"We're going to several of our metro Atlanta stores today, but I know this restaurant will get a lot of applicants because when it first opened about a year ago, they got 2,400 applications," Harry Coaxum, Vice President and General Manager for McDonald's Atlanta Region, said early Tuesday.

newamericamedia.org...

Yes, even McDonald jobs are being jumps at by folks wanting to work, and they'd line up in their 100's just for a new branch offering a couple of jobs.

I hate it when these attackers don't even try to give constructive criticism. They just 'get a job' or 'you're just lazy and a communist' to those participating in the OWS. I mean this is all we get. I've seen some good points from critics of the OWS movement, but I see a flood of attacks that hold little substance to them.

And to think many of these folks attacking the OWS support eliminating minimum wage as well. Right.

I second rednecks logic. You cannot own any property with no help working minimum wage. That is, unless you want to live in a cardboard box. Also, you can't talk about radical thoughts, people have been spewing the same stuff you've been saying for a long time. What's radical is the idea that without corporations, we could live better lives, wait I guess that isn't so radical, since that's what Jesus believed, and Ghandi, and you know none of them were radical enough to die for their values.
