St. Petersburg, Russia - 03-22-10

The video below has been referred to me by several of our readers. I believe it is worth a look to those of you who have not seen it yet.

A UFO was seen by numerous witnesses over St. Petersburg, Russia, on March 22, 2010.

The object created a glow in the sky that was seen from several parts of the city. One of the witnesses worked for Channel 100 TV.

He was fortunate enough to capture footage of the UFO.

It would be easy to assume that the object is nothing more than a plane. But the object does not seem to move like a plane. In fact, for the most part, it appears to hover.

At one point you can see another object approach from the right side of the screen. It moves toward the larger object, and seems to be taken into the original UFO

Well, again, I bring this here as I have no valid explanation for this video.

It appears to hover and does not move like a plane, so I would consider that one ruled out. Another 'orb' or whatever they are appears from the right of the screen and disappears behind the rest which IMO rules out lanterns, along with the fact they stay in that formation.

It's an interesting video and I am awaiting other opinions.

Any thoughts?

Pred...

Strange.

Looks like 'chinese lanterns' is going to be your most replied explanation for those lights.

I agree. It does appear to be a Chinese lantern cluster!

You have a good point about the one coming in from the right and almost dispersing into the two smaller ones on the right. In watching this I got an odd feeling and got to wondering. This almost looks like debris...burning debris. Just what would it look like if something in orbit exploded or were destroyed? Hovering would be explained by a different scale of distance in a dark sky and 0 gravity wherever the debris was.

It's probably a crazy idea...but then there are a lot of things going on these days that might have seemed crazy not that long ago....

and i suppose the light that comes from the right and joins the group of lights vanishing into them was another chinese lantern catching up to it's other chinese lantern buddies right?

was going to say lanterns before the orb flies in from the right.

the main cluster could be anything really, the orb is definitely strange though.

Well that one has me stumped.

Certainly does not appear to be lanterns.

If anything, a cluster of ... balloons on a very windless night, but even I'd have a hard time believing that.

If it's not rendered then it's intriguing.

Maybe fires on a mountainside.

I dunno.

Maybe its ET. Who just likes to sit up there , posture, make us freak out, then leave without a reach around.

Or it could be chinesse lanterns.

Aspect ratio of lights does change a little from the beginning to the end, Also cluster does drift a little to the right. You can tell when camera zooms out, use the lit up tower on the ground for a marker. So this is a cluster of somethings moving directly away from the camera? If it is a hoax, CGI explains the add on light that joins its "buddies".
Maybe it's a bunch of guys with lanterns searching a hill side for something. Otherwise, I dunno. A Chinese lantern party?

Nice find OP

The zoom in/out adds to the credibility of the footage, as do the foreground/background features insofar as eliminating CGI.

The formation of the cluster of lights appear to vary marginally during the video, and it certainly drifts from left to right.

Some screen shots to ponder...

The "intercepting orb" is a mystery, it could be post-production or the best UFO video grab of 2010...??

I believe I have found an explanation for the lights in the OP video , they are military flares used for fighter aircraft training over lake Ladoga .
Use google translate from Finnish

" Dear Bjorn! This is a very terrestrial objects - big flares with the parachutes, dropped for the training in aerial shooting by our interceptors. Such claster of flares called in a Russian military slang "lustra" ("chandelier"). Place of manoeuvres - only over big water surfaces (otherwise parts of flare can made a fire on the earth), usually over Ladoga lake. "

O.k, so what about the light that comes in slow, zooms up to the other two lights that morphed out of the original light, and disappears into the closest light to it?

They also look pretty stationary. . i know the camera can play tricks & make the objects appear biig, or double them given the distance caused by the crappyness of the camera used, but this seems pretty genuine

S&F pred. I wouldnt of found it if i hadn't of been snoopin around you're threads
