I see a lot of folks who say they are Military, and I do not discount that. I see a lot of folks that talk WEAPS, and don't really get the gist of it, whether it is new tech or old tech. Who really is interested in real world weaponry, and future tech? I know plenty from time being a guinea pig for the Army, but I can truly say what I saw in 1999 is not deployed in the battlefield today. And it hurt like hell. And I am no worse for wear now. Are we really as advanced as we say we are? I say no, I got hit with LRAD in 99 at APG (Aberdeen Proving Grounds.) That I've seen... but it isn't widely deployed. I know we have more in the arsenal, what do you think they are?

i saw an interview with bob woodward talking to some doofus on cnn, and he said he has knowledge and seen weapons that are so advanced and unbelievable that it would out of star wars.

this is another interview basically saying the same thing. flip to 1:00 of the video when he starts to go into more detail.

if anybody knows what he's talking about, shed some light.

apparently the great mighty woodward, a private civilian like the rest of us, has super top secret clearance and is failing in his journalistic duties to inform the american public.

I think he is making a big thing out of nothing.
He's talking about techniques in operations in relation to drop in violence - in Iraq.
This could be new type of interrogation techniques, where "mind reading" apparatus of some sort is used, instead of plain lie detector.
This could be about new 24/7 surveillance techniques used in mapping threats.
This could be about low frequency immobilizers, wireless stun guns.
This could be about managing the supply chain of violence - i.e. all the necessary elements required for deadly violence - and cutting these off in their early phase.

OR it could be about military creating their own clone army (if we need the connection to Star Wars)... lol

I think you guys are over reacting a little bit. Things out in theaters as of now are a tad more traditional, no starwars lasers and crap.
Sure, there are high-speed NODS/Thermals and stuff like that. For the most part it's drones and scout weapon teams that are of great help to us on the ground.
Sure there are a lot of people who claim this and that, but in reality no one is going to show you their ERB.
Take it or leave it I say. If it sounds like BS - too good to be true, it probably is.
People in the know are not going to post sensitive/opsec related info on a damn forum..

I'm sure there are somethings that even your average grunt will never know about until it is unleashed. I'm waiting for the wide dispersal of THEL weapons sometime in the near future.

My guess is that they are waiting to be able to harness enough power, more efficiently, to make the THEL system far more capable before deploying it to the battle field. From what I understand THEL is already being used by the Air Force and mounted on Navy ships.

Though these are simply rumors. I'm an Army guy so I wouldn't know.

Yeah man, we got laser rifles, portable rail guns, and one-man carry miniguns.
Get real. All the weapons that came out in the past 20 years have been known long before they were actually adopted by the U.S. Military. You know how much sh** they need to go through ? I mean they got to test the damn things first, just like all scar program. I seriously think that lots of people are just freaking out for no reason.
What we use is what we have, and secret squirrel sh** is just that.
Go look at your initial issue and/or RFI bag, nothing fancy in there. Go look at SOF types bags, they gonna get sh** that is a bit never, that's all.

Well...We do have a rail gun project. And we do have THEL.

Don't know about the rest.

Our military definitely has aces up it's sleeve of one type or another... As to what they are I'm really not sure. As someone who's not serving military all I can do is read up on various sites and speculate.

But Like VXN says I've heard similar things about THEL. Also there's the stealthed helicopters used on the bin laden raid... Which I think is based off the MH 53 pave low because of the early pictures posted of the aft section's wreckage in the days following the raid. The aft section pictures were then scrubbed from the internet for the most part. That alone tells me that something seriously black was used.

For the people saying that there's nothing secret being used... keep telling yourself that. Images are coming out all the time showing new gear in the field... and that's just little stuff like STS EO's AN PVS 21 goggles.

Rumors about "stealth Black Hawks" have been around since early '06.
PVS 21s and 23s are a standard issue to light infantry units heading to Afghanistan since '08.
They were first issued to SOF personnel in '06 as far as I know. Nothing super secret about this stuff.
Keep reading conspiracy theories, and believing other people's BS stories. Your on the right track...

Notice that I WAS NOT talking about any such "stealth blackhawk" because the crashed stealth copter in Astan was IMHO a stealthed PAVE LOW not a blackhawk.

As far as the PVS 21 being standard issue ... I'd like to know to who exactly those are standard issue at this point. From everything I've read there are remarkably few pairs of them out there at this time. Nor do I think they were even in existence as of 08.

As far as your continued insistence that there is no secret tech because you don't know about it.... well my guess is they don't consult you on every project they decide to work on.

BTW the railgun project is common knowledge and covered by sources like wired.com so it's not even really secret.

Just because you don't like a subject doesn't mean other people have to shut up and not talk about it. If you don't like the thread don't post to it.

Im not sure if we are thinking of the same LRAD,but it took me a few seconds to come across Long Range Acoustic Device.

I know their is more interesting technology, how do I know this? Most inner city police departments have these.

2/187 (10th Mountain) as far as PVS 21s go.
Most light Infantry units get them now days. If you're in a shi* bag POG unit, you won't see them for another 10 years.

I didn't tell people to shut up, I told them to stop believing other people's BS stories, ie - conspiracy theories.

That "Stealth Pave Low" was actually a Transformer, just so you know. The aliens told me so.

ERR no... I'm talking about the Stealth Pave low that got the thermite treatment after it crashed on the bin laden raid. AS I've stated MANY MANY TIMES.... and FYI NO you don't get issued the AN PVS 21.... they weren't even out until last year so no way you had them in '08.

For reference THIS is the AN PVS 21.

It has built in capability as a Heads up display as well as just night vision. You can plug your scope or a laptop into the goggles and have data or a scope view projected onto your field of view real time.

I know everyone wants to feel special and everything but geez the least you could do is look stuff up before you talk about it.

EDIT TO add: I've been following this particular technology since it's inception and this link shows how new they are.

PVS 21's first pic of them known to be in the field

You got me there, I admit my screw up.
Those were PSQ20s, not 21s.
As far as everything else, I still think you are overreacting. The whole land warrior system, which PVS21s seem to be a part of is still a test bed. There was only 2 conventional units that were using it this year (August '11 is when I last heard of it).

Interesting!

Seems to be taken pretty seriously by the defense industry. They even claim to have gotten intel on Saddam Hussein during the Gulf War. Wonder why it took so long to get him? What a waste of time, imagination, and money.....

Most of what was going to be nett warrior is now getting rolled into the army's Droid based soldier communication system they are working on now.

Everything i put in my posts is easily verifiable information available online. I kept any of my personal speculation out of it.

BUT there is some stuff out there in the black world for sure. We spend lots of money trying to stay one step ahead of the rest of the world.

Here's the tail rotor of the crashed stealth helicopter from the bin laden raid.

Incidentally in the first days these photos were out there was a picture of the aft section of the fuselage included with the rest of the pics. You can now not find that pic ANYWHERE on the net... I"ve looked a time or twelve... wishing I'd have saved a copy to my desktop but I didn't.

Anyway though the aft section makes it obvious that whatever crashed is most likely a modified mh 53 pave low variant.

Long Range Acoustic Device, basically a police siren on steroids, like a migraine times 1000.
Pretty neat less lethal weapon.
