Holy crap that's a lot of people, and I'm happy to see this amount of people protesting.

I know there are some that say they shouldn't be shutting down highways or bridges but that's the point of a protest, to make it a nuisance. If you want to be heard, then you have to be noticed.

Good on them and I hope the 100,000+ adds a 0 to them.

Any thoughts?

Edit: Nevermind, it was 100,000 people. That is INSANE! I'd like to see marches of this scale going on in every city where there is an occupy protest, which is around 2,400.

Source:

Oakland’s Interim Police Chief Howard Jordan (a capable and politically smart leader in a tough position) got the Occupy Oakland General Strike crowd count massively wrong: it’s not 7,000, but 100,000.

Are you sure this isn't the beginning of the zombie apocalypse?

Good for them though, but I don't see this lasting too awefully long before the authorities move in.

If the people on the bridge accounted for most of the crowd, I'd say it fell way short of 100k.

EDIT: Because of the cold weather coming, west coast is the best bet for OWS.

Yeah. Too bad they aren't all carrying AR-15's with extra ammo, fully armored, with two forms of squad communication, a supply line behind them, and snipers covering from afar. Not to mention a few SA-7's. But of course then we might not be seeing this footage.

Yep...I think the original 7000 people guesstimate is more accurate.

But that is still a whole lot of people.

Once people start dying of hypothermia in the northren cities, those cities will have them removed, for the protesters own safety.

Im not from there so I dont know. Is that a heavily used highway? Seems a little weird to be doing it somewhere folks dont really see it. I mean do they end up coming through the city somewhere?

Either way it sure looks good.

S&F. Sends shivers down my spine to see my fellow Americans taking back what is theirs.

We will prevail over the thieves and slave masters.

I hope people will understand when I don't jump up and down and throw parties right now. I'm nervously watching those crowds in Oakland while I prepare for time watching camp video feeds all night and through dawn tomorrow. I wish these had shown numbers like that BEFORE violence became a factor repeated night after night. I wish those numbers could be replicated OUTSIDE of the epicenter for that violent turn in the OWS movement.

If we get to dawn tomorrow without blood in the streets there and actual deaths this time, I'll reconsider and call this a successful day. However, based on recent past history, I see the building strength for what will become a war zone there tonight. Nothing gained....nothing changed by morning, just a lot of people hurt who didn't have to be.

I hope I'm wrong...and I'll admit it tomorrow if it turns out I am misreading the situation. I dearly hope I am. The history there suggests otherwise. We'll know for sure about 16 hours from now when the night is pretty well done and a new day dawns over the Bay Area. A day of peace and victory? Or casualties and defeat?

I don't see this as the beginning of a zombie apocalypse, those people marching and protesting are the ones who are awake. Fair play to them, people are pissed and I'm one of them.

That was my poor attempt at humor.
I was hoping you'd gather that I'm supporting this from my second line.
I'll try harder next time.

2,400 cities??? I think you're INSANE, my friend. However, I will withdraw my remark if you can name all of those 2,400 cities. Go ahead, sir.

This is what the majority of the people on here have been saying forever. We need to get together and tell these scum of the earth where to go and how to get there, and now that we started it is bad? Weird logic...

I for one, stand with the people for OWS, as they stand for us. They are doing it for us all...

Cool sight - they're really going for it in Oakland aren't they
Good on 'em though, especially since they've taken the brunt of the OWS problems too. I agree with that comment about being a nuisance. It's like D.C. here in the UK saying "You can protest but that doesn't mean you can just put up a tent anywhere in London" - which IMO is their way of trying to cordon all protest on our end and make it as un-protest like as possible. Which is silly. It only takes a few trucks to block a road in this country and the whole place is crippled for food and fuel.
