So, what or who do you consider as a "credible" news source, and why?

I was just wondering what everyone considers a credible news source and why they feel that way. I have seen many articles from Fox news, but for the most part are laid by the wayside because they are deemed "faux news'. Also, I have seen some from infowars, dailymail, and Before Its news that really have no facts behind them. It seems as if a lot of the MSM only cover a portion of an actual news article. I am just wondering because its getting harder to differentiate all of the MSM and am really looking for a good place to find alternative news sources that are credible. Thank you, and good day.

I actually think this is a difficult question. When you get right down to it, every single piece of journalism has someone's spin on it so NO piece of journalism is unbiased.

Basically, everything published or shown fits somebodies agenda somewhere so in theory no source is entirely credible and everything should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Couldn't tell you the most credible but i could give you a long list of those that are not credible.. And most of those would be from the Murdoch empire...

I listen to them all, then I look into the facts for myself to confirm things.
I don't think anyone should just take someone's word for something, in this world full of liars, no one is looking out for our best interests, we have to look out for ourselves.

This may sound like brown nosing. But I find ATS to be the best place. Numerous sources from around the world posted here in Breaking News. This then gets dissected and debated among the members and from reading a whole thread you generally get both points of view (if there is any) plus additional links and sources and the members are good here when sorting the lies to the truth.

I haven't had my coffee yet, so forgive the snark, but the basic rule here is that a news source that agrees with you is credible, reliable, and independent. And, of course, information you don't like is coming from a shill, paid for, propaganda rag.

The thing is, do you seriously believe that other media empires do not exactly the same sort of thing? Of course they do, they are just better at hiding it. Murdoch's empire has been caught out because they got so blase about what they were doing!

I agree, the best news source, is YOU.

Take in all the information from multiple sites, double check facts, and make up your own mind.
As was said before, all news outlets have their own agenda, as they are in the bussines to make money.

I check daily:
BBC world news
CNN
RT
Euro news
ATS
Before its News

that way im sure to get the highlights of the mainstream and alternative, thereafter i look further (Using google) into a certain topic or article that im interested in and cross check fatcs and so on from multiple othersites before it is a valid story for me.

ESPN. It's the only network that can and does show proof of what they're saying!

i dont consider any news source as credible, i try to get my info from several different sources and use the info to come to my own conclusion. but most of the time i find it impossible to know what exactly is going on so i just focus on whats happening in my own life lol

There are no credible news sources, only stories that we must verify personally or believe at our own risk.

There is however one reporter I trust, though he does defend the Obama administration from time to time, usually by pointing out that Bush started this economic debacle. Let me introduce you to Greg Palast, who discovered and revealed the voting fraud of 2000, 2004, and 2008 and has a new book coming out on the 14th of this month about the Deepwater Horizon screwing that BP is still giving us.

www.gregpalast.com...

Working with Greg on at least the last two elections has been another pretty good guy named Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Which news service can you trust not to have an agenda they are actively pursuing? Unfortunately the only one I can think of isn't even a news service at all, but here it is.

www.disinfo.com...

About as close as you can come IMHO.

One final note though. Alex Jones and his boys are not reporting the news, they are embroidering it! Have caught them doing it several times. I personally believe they are cointelpro.

The Drudge Report brings a bit together but there seems like there is no happy medium between something 'over the top' like Infowars and mainstream media.

Ok, that's all fine and dandy, but how do we chack facts when the facts are posted by somebody somewhere and that person is going to have their own spin on it. The absolute only way you can get the correct news would be to actually be present at the event in question, and we all know that can't happen much...or ever.

Most media outlets have their own spin on a story. This has always taken place and will continue to happen, essentially because the media outlets are purely the mouthpiece of the propoganda machine.

Very much like Jibby, I like to read the news from various sources and you usually find the Truth lies somewhere in the middle.

There is one paper I like to read in the U.K it is called The Independent. IMO they give a fairly balanced view of what is going on in the world and are not affiliated to any of the Political Parties.

I think most mainstream news outlets are somewhat credible to a degree, you simply have to look for their slant on things. The best anyone can do is check multiple sources including alternate ones, and then see what kind of story gels from there, to determine the truth of anything.

I also look to International news agencies as well.

Ditto that, there is no such thing as credible news sources. Everyone and everything has an agenda or opinion that they want to push it's just the nature of life, the only thing credible means is that whoever thinks such and such is credible are just agreeing with there ideas, ideologies, agendas, and all such things on the path's of life.

It's a condensing of thought waves. The word credible is that indeed.

The best way to get the most accurate news would be to read multiple sources, both with and without a spin.

Decide on your own what you feel is more credible or not by simply digging in and doing your own research. Also finding input from your peers and comparing that with your own research works quite well.
