There are many a fantasy tale written in the annals of history, and the Internet is one of the fastest ways to spread them......

This is extremely interesting to say the least. Check out this strange tidbit I found buried in one of the articles:
Writing for The National Interest, Eisenhower explained, “I have decided I can no longer be a registered Republican…This was not an endorsement of the Democratic platform, nor was it a slap in the face to the Republican Party. It was an expression of support specifically for Senator Barack Obama…Source: Bekow's Rocket to Mars story.
A lifelong Republican, who doesn't support the Democratic platform, throwing her support behind Barack Obama. Am I the only one smelling something a bit fishy? Does she know something we don't know?

Lots of info OP, but I am ether missing a lot or not looking in the right places as I don't really see anything resembling a "plan" other than a little wishful thinking about space exploration (lots of that during the time).
Even our smartest German led 'space team' couldn't get a rocket off the pad for a long time!
When I was a child in the 50'and 60's there was always talk from the president about us expanding and colonizing the moon, mars, etc.
What is news here? What am I missing?

Can you make a youtube video of all, its to mush to read
There are real commercial activities that private enterprises could develop on the moon as well: Helium 3 can be mined, and heavy metal meteorites could be a source of rare earth metals. And the presence of water ice would make great rocket fuel — and rocket fuel is gets us to Mars. Aldrin thinks that base could form part of a transportation infrastructure that would enable us to get to near Earth objects such as asteroids, Martian moon Phobos, even Mars itself and beyond.
The space legend, who is launching a new think tank called U.S.S. Enterprise — which stands for Unified, Strategic, Space Enterprise — believes NASA should think about all of the planets for the most efficient travel across the solar system. And a key item for America should be a permanent base on Phobos.
Richard Dell Jr.’s stated goal: leverage private investment to build a colony of human explorers on Mars, by developing Miley’s nuclear rocket engines.
A nuclear engine was considered for some time as a replacement for the J-2 used on the S-II and S-IVB stages on the Saturn V and Saturn I rockets. Originally "drop-in" replacements were considered for higher performance, but a larger replacement for the S-IVB stage was later studied for missions to Mars and other high-load profiles, known as the S-N. Nuclear thermal space "tugs" were planned as part of the Space Transportation System to take payloads from a propellant depot in Low Earth Orbit to higher orbits, the Moon, and other planets.

HA! Maybe Obama isn't an Earth citizen after all. This information blows my mind. I know anything is possible...but WOW. How does he fit in, I wonder.
