The spooks and scares of Halloween came a few days early in Scottsdale, Ariz. this year.

While another game was making national news across town for a bizarre coaching tactic, the Horizon (Scottsdale, Ariz.) game against Notre Dame Prep (Scottsdale, Ariz.) also featured a dose of the unusual, albeit of the more frightening variety: an apparent UFO sighting.

In a video from the game uploaded to You Tube yesterday, at least four bright, fast-moving lights can be seen in the sky over the field. The crowd can be heard celebrating in the background, and the announcer appears to be describing a touchdown by Horizon receiver Dushawn Brown.

At that point, a fan in the crowd can be heard commenting on the lights.

The description of the video includes some insight into how the objects were moving, saying "they would disappear/reappear and hover motionless. They danced back and forth in a wave motion."

Don't really know what to make of these videos. They appear stationary then zoom, with a tail, around.

I wonder if we will get the golden knights explanation as I have no idea how to check their schedule.

It could be lanterns, but them how would they move the way they do and have a tail behind them?

I don't know, I'm stumped.

Any thoughts?

You can clearly see a trail from the UFO in the first video. I cant think of anything that could debunk this at the moment. Video looks very authentic.

I don't think its lanterns...defiantly not airplanes, helicopters or zeppelin either. Cool footage!

I hadn't seen the tail at first! I went to see it at 1080HD and it looked like balls of flame going down in a spiraling motion, but very slowly before stopping. Will watch again...

Well, sure looks like the Golden Knights but they weren't scheduled for anything 10/28/2011 (you'll have to download the excel document near the bottom of the Schedule page for the full 2011 schedule.

Can we confirm this date for the game on the video? Maybe something was added, one of their teams was scheduled for a show the next day in San Antonio, TX. Perhaps they were practicing, perhaps an additional date was added but not put on to the schedule? This one was last updated in April of this year and I can easily see that new shows might have been added but not put on the online schedule. Another team that does similar shows?

I can see a trail at 1080dp too.........looks like it was filmed on a device that maybe doesn't support that high a resolution?........mobile phone maybe?

I'm no expert.....but it just looks like Chinese lanterns to me, filmed and converted to a resolution that the camera doesn't support

That was strange.. I don't think their lanterns, not really sure what they are.. Especially disappearing and reappearing, the tails and changing directions..very interesting.

It really looks exactly like skydivers with flares. It may not be the Golden Knights, but they certainly aren't the only skydiving team out there.

It's a rehearsal by the Arizona Skyhawks.

Yeah could be skydivers with flares, they are all on a vertical decline as well.

Those are clearly not lanterns. The field goal post and trees do not have any ghosting when there is motion. Not to mention when the camera is stable, using the foreground as a reference, there is still trails to be seen.

I'm not saying it's ET related, but it definitely is not lanterns, planes, helicopters, or anything we can all say we've seen before.

Nice find.

Yes it isn't lanterns, it isn't anything mysterious -

It's the Arizona Skyhawks team doing a practice run

I watched the second video, :10 seconds in the upper most "illuminated object" lit up. It lasted to exactly :40 seconds for a total of :30 seconds pretty much to the second. Then roughly :10 more seconds ticked by. At :50 (based on the last location of the "illuminated object") seemingly the same object re-illuminated and stayed that way until right at 1:19 which is again a total of :30 seconds.

Here is a price list from a website that sells flares.

Type 1

Performance- Type 1 composition emits little smoke, however the paper tube does tend to contribute some smoke during the burn. Quiet and gentle. 6" tall very pure color flame.
Dimensions- .76 od x .5 id x 2.5 l.
Blue - 15 and 30 second stock durations. Maximum 60 sec. special order. 4.25
Red - 15 and 30 second stock durations. Maximum 60 sec. special order. 4.25
Purple - 15 and 30 second stock durations. Maximum 60 sec. special order. 4.25
Yellow - 15 and 30 second stock durations. Maximum 60 sec. special order. 4.25
T1 Titanium Flare - Blue, Red or Purple topped with 12 in. silver plume. 15 and 30 sec. 5.00

Type 2

Performance- Reduced smoke stage flares. Fierce burning, intensely bright magnesium colors. We formulated these with a special low smoke oxidizer that is compatible with magnesium. It is expensive, but we don't have to add carcinogenic chromium stabilizers.
Dimensions- .76 od x .5 id x 3.5 l.
Blue - 15 and 30 second durations. 5.75
Red - 15 and 30 second durations. 5.75
Purple - 15 and 30 second durations. 5.75
Green - 15 and 30 second durations. 5.75
Yellow - 15 and 30 second durations. 5.75
T2 Titanium Flare - Standard colors, topped with 20 in. silver plume. 15 sec. 6.75

Note the burn duration times. Based on the movement of the filmed "illuminated objects", I am going with parachutists popping off flares as they descended. Not sure if this is "The Golden Knights" everyone mentions, but I am sure they are not the only group of people that are capable of performing this type of jump.

If there is anyone on ATS that is from the area and is familiar, perhaps they can post a Google Map image in the direction of the sighting. I would be willing to wager there is a small airport in very close proximity to the sighting.
