I haven't found anything on the internet to provide a more scientific explanation, but I consider the globular shape of celestial bodies to be the
effect of the centrifugal force of spinning objects. But remember everything in the universe is not spherical. Galaxies can be elliptical, as are
the orbits of planets, and spiral in shape. Asteroids can be of quite irregular shape as some photographs have confirmed.
I will look for more information.
