Have you seen it? because if you had you would realise a lot of things in the movie is sense. just because he use's humor in it doesnt mean it is wrong.

Dont get me wrong, Im not dismissing the movie because he is a comedian..
In fact I am watching it now on youtube... but the fact that your research on religion seems to be watching a documentary with a stand up comedian kinda got my attention.

What else have you done in part of your research? Just curious to know.

Like I have said all my life people have been trying to get me to believe one thing or another. I talk to people of different faiths at work all the time when we are working nights and have had some great discussions, I have been searching for something for a long time, I have looked into Taoism, Hinduism all sorts really.
I have been thinking about what needs to be done to help humanity carry on and not destroy ourselves.
I have come to understand that certain things in religion have been detrimental for the human race and having all these apocalyptic verses do nothing but help spread fear.
I havent just watched one thing and came up with this idea,
I just think Bill has put it into ways I never could so I have used him to help me get my point across.

Exactly. If it wasn't for these faiths and their teachings this world would have already torn itself apart. Lets see what happenes to the world when these christian people disappear from the face of the earth and no one teaches to love your enemies and your neighbors, or to be charitable and not be selfish and teach good morals and how to be a good citizen and to help others voluntarily, to feed the poor and clothe the needy. See the world how it is today without us? I can promise you it would be thousands of times worse.

The world just does not know, but there may come a day and it may come soon where they will know. For those of us our God is all we live for and his word of salvation. It is by this salvation that we are able to forego personal ambition and sacrifice ourselves and our wants for the benefit and love of our fellow man which makes the world a better place than it would be without. Without us the world would fall into selfishness, greed, avarice, murder and many other evils and it is already headed that way if you look at current world events. Were not the ones doing this, something else is doing this. The world economy in the tank and it will implode within the next year or 2, wars and rumors of wars, the famines and diseases and the natural disasters in which many christian churches lend aid and supplies to the people who have lost everything. Most people don't think about these things, they just take us for granted.

Fair enough. But what else have you read/watched to arrive at your worldview regarding religion. Im just curious to know. Any material thats from a religious point of view? Any religious scriptures?

Oh yes there were morals, just not the kind you would want to live by. Namely the assyrian laws of Hammurabi with is code of "Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" which even before him that law was in play thousands of years.

Basically under the Code of Hammurabi, if you killed a man, you were killed. If you maimed a man, you were maimed in return in same fashion. If you caused a man's crops to failor his livelihood and trade, your life was forfeit. This Code of Hammurabi even made it into the Old Testament in many places. What Jesus did was he broke the cycle of death that was the price for breaking the laws. Under Christ we were taught forgiveness and no longer were men killed for breaking the laws of God.

The muslim still keep the the code of Hammurabi, they believe whole heartedly in "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth". Do not think you understand anything about morality and laws, youre used to the laws man has now which were based on God's laws and Christ's teachings. If it weren't for Christ's teachings you could be killed for stealing a loaf of bread when you were hungry. Jesus has done more for you than you will ever know and you repay him by spitting in his face.

Iam not saying the basic message of religion is wrong, but like I have said instead of loads of books we only need to follow one rule....treat people how you want to be treated.
I think Jesus would be horrified if he came back and saw what has been done in his name, he would be also horrified that people have used his word for his own end.
The bible and all the major religious texts were written a long time ago and maybe we needed them when they first came out but I think humanity have grown up a little since then and we know whats right and whats wrong.
People dont need a book anymore to know this we know it in our very being.
People of every religion still kill and rape and plunder.
Also don't start saying "Oh thats because of satan" because he is a fairy story made to make people follow certain religions.
But this is going off my point.
Fundamentalist People who hold power will make sure Armageddon will happen because it is written in their "Holy Book" ie: it is written so it will happen.
Just do a search for armageddon and there are scary people stating it will happen as fact

I say that anyone who believe's this because its written in a book it is they who are spitting in the face of humanity.....

Yup read the bible as a child
Confucianism read the 4 books as a teen, I liked what he had to say.
The Kojiki which is a shinto book
Tao Te Ching a Taoist text read it in my teens again
A western Hindu monk I knocked about with for a while gave me loads of his books, I think they were all from the shruti texts I can't remember.
I was given a western version of the Kangyur, a Buddhist book, liked it.
Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health don't wanna say much about this apart from BURN IT ;D
I have tried the Koran but my heart wasnt in it so I stopped reading it.
Book of Mormon, I lived nest door to one and OMG that joe smith was the best conman ever lol
Iam sure I have read more but can't remember.
