A disqualified driver who got behind the wheel just hours after he was released from hospital following a drug overdose will spend four months behind bars after he was sentenced in an Australian court.
According to his lawyer, Jim Allen, Benjamin Matthew Kennedy, 24, "died" and was revived after being hospitalised and the distress that caused him contributed to his decision to drive his car in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.
Allen told the court Kennedy's state of mind should be considered a mitigating factor while giving submissions on sentence.

Yet another non-violent victimless "crime" and "criminal offender" severely punished. Good job justice system! Keep up the work of putting non-violent people who've caused no harm behind bars where they belong. The lawyer no doubt never mentioned that the person never actually did any harm and there was no victim.
People should have a RIGHT to drive unless they are driving recklessly, without any sort of drivers license.
