I don't know why cannibalism would be an issue when there are domestic pets and rodents everywhere.

I think that people drastically overestimate the odds of cannibalism becoming a wide phenomenon in SHTF situations. Not to mention, there would be all sorts of spoils like canned goods and stuff like that to snack on until people did figure things out.

Now that I have read it,

I think I might just go completely VEGAN or create my own SHTF scenario via starvation.

Haha! Well, that`s to bad. To many here you will apparently taste better when you turn into chow. With no bill to pay I think most of them would go for the lobster

Great OP br0ker!

This is what I've been trying to forewarn people about in Hawai'i especially those that support the Occupy Movement(s).

80% of Hawai'i's consumer goods are brought in by containers on ships. If & when the ships stop coming (SHTF on the Mainland & Globally) what will people in Hawai'i do?

I've been trying to get folks to grasp self-sustainability. Farming, Fishing, Renewable Energy, etc. But most here will not even entertain the remote possibility that Commerce can stop and that there won't be anything at Walmart eventually should that occur. They think "The Government" will step in and make sure "Walmart" & others get their shipments in via The US Armed Forces, etc.

Polynesian's, Micronesian's, Melanesians, & Indonesians all have some form of cultural history of Cannibalism. Those of us with DNA of those groups will probably find it easier to resort to Cannibalism after the "Rescue & Relief" efforts from the Greater Asian nations stop. (Eventually having local catastrophies of their own to deal with)

Possibilities, probabilities, & potentialities for geographically isolated locations of mass consumerism like Hawai'i, Guam, Samoa, Puerto Rico, & others, when SHTF!

With the industry being focused on JIT principle to be more profitable I would think our food supplies would run out pretty fast. Canned foods included. Roaches - be my guest. Within 3 months i think people would be snacking on somebody`s dog named Bo. Sorta gives a new meaning to: "Son, stop playing with your food".

You must live in the Continental USA Redneck with a Walmart around every corner.

See my reply to OP. (br0Ker)

Can't blame them for the lobster.

But essentially you are saying you would devour me in a second aren't ya? Go for it. My conscience is clear.

I'd have to be in a life or death situation to do that. I'd probably gag a few times, and there certainly wouldn't be any chewing involved. Nasty.

of course i would eat human. meat is meat after all. you have to cook the meat properly though, and dont eat the brain, dont want mad human disease. as for personal preference, i would go for boys around 10 and girls around 15, the flesh is tender but not lean at those ages. also for some help on trapping your human food, you can consult Ragnar Benson's book on Mantrapping.

This post represents an argument I have had with the gold/silver hounds about value in a worst-case event, such as described here. Namely, food/water are more valuable that gold/silver, so hoard food/water first.

With freeze-dried foods you can store a whole years supply in a rather small space. I have a metal wire type shelving unit that measures 18" deep, 36" wide and 72" tall, and I can store 126 large #10 cans (approx 1 gallon size) of freeze-dried foods. The cost of these cans would be in the area of $1,800 or so. beprepared.com...
This is over one year's supply of food for an adult. Most freeze-dried canned food has a shelf life of 25 years. If the worst does not happen you still have delicious foods availabe to use anytime.

Bottom line is this...

A properly prepared family never need face hunger or cannibalism in an emergency. The time to prepare for the worst is before the worst comes to your front door.

If i really and i mean REALLY have to eat somebody, i would do it.
But i wouldn't if i could have a slight chance of not doing it.
Eating human flesh is a best way to develop a disease called Kuru, which is caused by prions.
It's similar to Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease.

My suggestion is if you are ever tempted to pray then pray that you never find yourselves in the position where a temptation to eat another human being is put before you.

Maybe cannibalism is the answer to poverty lol

I am not sure what you "lol'ed" about in that statement.

It's actually a pretty clever joke if you think about it.... hahahahaha...
if they all eat themselves... no more poverty... *BONK*

The real question is... which half you taking... bottom half or top half? There's some fine cuts on the bottom half but top half .... well those organs and nervous system is a delicacy....

In all honesty... I'd probably barf cleaning the cadaver and draining it of all the fluids necessary D: but after I get some good cuts off the thighs and ribs... throw it all the makeshift grill.... add some salt'n'pepper... throw some aluminum wrapped potatoes on the coals... be the best meal one can eat during a post-apocalyptic scenario

I am a native american, I learned how to eat off the land several years ago when I saw all
this coming at us.

To be honest with wild edibles, insects, fruit trees, nut trees, the Ojibwa bird trap, snaring,
fish traps, and what have you the odds of me starving are so close to zero I don't see it
happening.

In fact I have plans to feed a lot of ppl based off what I know and what I have hidden
in various locations, sunflower seeds for fat and nuts, and amaranth seeds for protein.

The scarcity paradigm is a bad joke, if we eat what does well naturally we have abundance,
no need for chemical warfare on the soil that creates huge deadzones in the gulf of mexico.

One guy in Wisconsin grows 1 million lbs. of food on 3 acres 365 days a year using compost as heat
by using Hydroponics and Aquaponics together.

Things tribes knew centuries ago are being "rediscovered", this was done by tribes in central america
with floating reed beds on top of the water and fish below long ago.

All the food the world needs can be grown on non-arable land about the size of West Virginia.

And for the dullards, of course you want to locate the food production where the ppl are,
not in West Virginia...Globalization and shipping food all over the planet is idiotic.

Its manufactured 100%.

This is how everyone could already be living on this planet, without realtors, bankers, or employement even because I don't believe anyone can force anyone into anything to prevent them from acting natural and taking the resources as needed like any other species.

www.google.ca...:en-US
fficial&client=firefox-a

Self sufficiency with solar/wind/recycled water, never mind wells, and naturally other energy sources with some trade. Green houses.

Why not add an aquaponics to the picture!!!

www.google.ca...:en-US
fficial&client=firefox-a

Its all possible.

But the greedy ones, they don't seem to like it!

Wouldn't a better movie analogy for this thread be The Road?

The people in alive were also freezing to death and needed food to keep their core temp up.

I think by the time it got that far there wouldn't be enough people left to bother with it.

They would also probably be emaciated so they would be good for stew not steaks.

The road is hollywood, 3 feet down the temp is the same year round unless you are in permafrost
in the arctic.

Just all the nuts that fall to the ground and are not eaten would likely feed a starving nation.
