Politico

During Herman Cain’s tenure as the head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, at least two female employees complained to colleagues and senior association officials about inappropriate behavior by Cain, ultimately leaving their jobs at the trade group, multiple sources confirm to POLITICO.

Cain said he has “had thousands of people working for me” at different businesses over the years and could not comment “until I see some facts or some concrete evidence.” His campaign staff was given the name of one woman who complained last week, and it was repeated to Cain on Sunday. He responded, “I am not going to comment on that.”

Cain continues to avoid answering direct questions about the incidents. When asked point blank by a reporter, “Have you ever been accused, sir, in your life of harassment by a woman?” his reply:

He breathed audibly, glared at the reporter and stayed silent for several seconds. After the question was repeated three times, he responded by asking the reporter, “Have you ever been accused of sexual harassment?”

This could be a concern for someone who is trying to be the next president. I'm curious what his supporters here have to say about this...

There is already a thread on this topic.

Pretty much my thoughts are that if he won't answer direct questions about this, there is much more to the story.

It makes you wonder, too, what other skeletons does this guy have in a closet?

I have noticed that his support is waning, but Cain and Romney are tied for first in polls. This news could really blow Cain out of the competition.

I saw the other thread, but it disappeared. Or at lease I can't find it.
And I agree that not answering these allegations are going to raise suspicions in people's minds.

Cain's campaign has denied the allegations now...

In a statement Sunday night, Cain's campaign said a media report that Cain was accused of sexual harassment at least twice during his tenure as the head of the National Restaurant Association isn't true and represents unfair attacks.

It's possible we're hear no more about this. Especially if the women are legally barred from talking about it. Can can just say it's not true and move on... Hmmm,,,

What's up with the selective bias on ATS?
If this happened to Ron Paul, you'd all call it a media coverup.
Politico is just as mainstream as the rest of the MSM
There IS an agenda behind this
He may or may not be innocent of the charges, but this is being reported on for reasons other than a sexual harassment charge.

If it happened to Ron Paul, I'd deal with it exactly as I have done here. I'm unclear of your point... Sorry. (I am not supporting anyone for president as yet.)

He may or may not be innocent of the charges, but this is being reported on for reasons other than a sexual harassment charge.

Yes, I agree. This is being reported on because Cain is running for president. If he was still a pizza guy, it probably wouldn't be a big deal.

Concerned Women for America, the right-leaning women’s group, is calling on Herman Cain to say whether he faced complaints about his personal behavior from female employees at the National Restaurant Association who later left the organization with financial settlements.

Looks like he might have to say more to please his base... They don't trust the allegations, but they still want a DIRECT answer. Should be an interesting day for Hermie.

Bill Clinton was banging interns the whole time
he was in office and you people did not bat an eye.
We were told his sex life is his business not ours.

Cains sexual life is none of anyones business.

So why is it all of a sudden some major issue>?

The hypocrisy is oozing out of every orifice here.
You can be accused of *sexual harassment* for
telling a lady you like her breast, mundane things.
A smear campaign.
I could care less about it.

These women knew he had money to go after
and they went after it.

It is done and over with they got compensated.

This is not even a criminal offense.

Non-issue

How do we know these women did not just make
the accusations up and he paid them to LEAVE
him alone. He has no admission to guilt.
If I was rich and someone was trying to
get 50,000 out of me but fighting them would
cost 200,000, time=money business it is a no brainer.

Last but not least, I could care less about Herman Caine.
He will not win the GOP nomination anyways making
it more of a moot story. case closed

I can not believe people are calling this news..

We have bigger issues to cook and fry.
This craps petty.

Sounds like these two broads have been paid to fabricate stories to derail his campaign... I wonder who organized this... My money is on Obama's henchmen... Seriously every time a lead candidate gets up in the polls a story of BS comes out.... If his name was Herman Mohammed Ahmed you would hear nothing of this...

“Have you ever been accused, sir, in your life of harassment by a woman?”

He could have at least answered it "Yes, falsely accused." If he is innocent he needs to speak up now and confront this. The more he evades the question the guiltier he will look. Regardless of his innocence the media will fillet and fry this story if he doesn't stop it now. He needs to have a press conference surrounding these allegation ASAP and deal with this.

I'm not supporting Mr. Cain but I do know the lies the MSM will spread about him if he allows it. The media is a shark in the waters of any candidate. You have to feed and swim with them. Just hoping they don't fix their sights on you in a negative manner.

Dam, even beating the Dems on that front.

Liking him more and more.....

BH... may as well start a dedicated thread against Cain.... Him being at the top of the run makes him a fair target for you and the MSM..... Keep it up....

1. Excuse me? "You people"? What people?

2. Do you have a source confirming that Bill Clinton was 'banging interns'?

3. I personally don't care about anyone's "sex life". If Clinton had consensual sex with someone it's NONE of my business. What pissed me off about that is that he LIED about it. But this thread isn't about Bill Clinton or consensual sex or Cain's sex life. It's about a charge of sexual harassment, which can encompass many behaviors. If he sexually harassed women, he may have committed a crime. We need to know more.

Cains sexual life is none of anyones business.

His criminal life may well be, though.

This is not even a criminal offense.

It could most definitely be! If he stalked or assaulted these women, it would be criminal.

It's sad that you're quote is 100% correct but it works for many of the liberal bullies.

I've noticed the accusations against Herman Cain are mostly vague with no facts except this person said this and that person said that but no real specific names.
I wonder, who are the two ladies the media is speaking of?
What was the "inappropriate behavior"?
I've also noticed most of the whining coming from the MSM is that he isn't responding to the accusations of supposed inappropriate behavior. It's probably because they have nothing to go on and are hoping Herman Cain gives them something to run with.

Herman Cain is a real threat to the establishment and their propaganda!

Here we have an American who calls himself "American first and black", instead of African-American, who achieved the American dream without affirmative action or any other help from the Democratic agenda and blatant lies.
They can't afford Cain to up against Obama so they're going to grasp at straws.

I think people need to be aware of ALL past/present allegations for anyone (including Dr. Paul) running for a seat at the White House.

I'd have more respect for the guy if he just admitted he inhaled...

Opps... wrong president...

But then again we did put a college half wit (Bush) in office and a guy that wasn't born on American soil (Guess?) so why not just elect a pedophile or sex creep... Beside it gives the current and past presidents more commonalities for small talk.

Because some Republicans aren't dumb enough to placed in the defensive position. I think Herman Cain is pissing off the MSM just like Palin did when she didn't say "how high" when they said "jump".

The claims are that possibly two women were harassed..

From the OP source article..

But one woman’s complaint apparently did make its way to at least some figures on the governing board when, at an association event, one board member got word that a female employee had complained about Cain’s advances, according to a source who was at the event.

The source said the board member asked the woman directly about the episode and was told that Cain had invited her up to his suite at a prior association event.

I didn't see the other, though Cain himself mentioned that claims of harassment might surface..

Cain, who has been married to his wife Gloria for 43 years, did tell at least one campaign staffer this year about the possibility that claims of sexual harassment could surface, according to the aide. Cain, this person said, described a case in which he fired an employee in 1990s and the woman alleged sexual misconduct or harassment. Cain told the campaign staffer he had beaten the case and that the woman had paid for his legal fees. The aide had no further details.

This might be a separate incident, however, this just appears on the surface as a smear.. which can all be cleared up if Politico calls on the anonymous sources to come forward to put themselves in the spotlight so they can be vetted.

As far as who is behind this? Look at who has the most money... Romney, Perry, Obama...

The BIG Money brokers are probably at their wits end that Cain is still showing so strongly despite having very little in the coffers, so they are getting back to ugly politics with the help of the MSM..

Come on Politico... give us more than 3rd hand accounts to these allegations.. you wouldn't be helping out the folks who help fund you now.. would you?

www.sourcewatch.org

"Politico will generate its revenue through an advertising-supported business model, with many of the ads coming from trade associations, lobbyists, government contractors and other companies looking to attract the attention of Congress, said Albritton President Frederick Ryan Jr. in September [2006] when the venture was initially announced," Katie Wilmeth of The Examiner reported on January 23, 2007.
